The new X33, why so little interest?
I just bought an X33 Solar Impulse, and there seems to be very little buzz about this watch on the various Omega forums. I realize the high-end Quartz is a niche market, but with the Omega NASA history I would have thought a new "moon" watch would get more attention. When I moved to Houston one of the first places I visited was NASA, and that was right when the original X33 came out, and there was a huge X33 on display, and it really stuck with me. I'm happy to see that they've moved forward with that series.

Agree with Mik & Gus, mechanical watches dominate this site in particular and it is hard to get jazzed about a quartz. even if it's a tremendous quartz. I almost bought one myself last year but I just couldn't justify the cost so I put the money in my grail fund and I don't regret it a bit! JMHO

There are very few quartz watches that I would want to own, but the new X-33 is of them. Love it on that blue and green strap as well.

For me, it's way too big. Otherwise, I'd probably have one.

I think it's just slightly outside of what Omega usually produces. When I see it, it reminds my of the technical style Quartz watches Breitling makes in their "Professional" range. And to be clear, that's not intended as a slight against Breitling, merely an observation. I also believe Omega's Quartz watches get overshadowed by the work (and advertizsing) Omega has been doing with its in-house mechanical movements.

I prefer the original version- red plane at 12:00.
I like the functions, nasa connection and analogue/digital combo. I almost bought one earlier this year. Second hand these can be quite affordable. The new one is cool in a retro red led sort of way, but I have an original red led watch form the day (2batteries!!) so I have that box ticked. |

I like it a lot (but not the water resistance). I think high-end quartz is very underrated and I can't understand why. They are the most accurate autonomous movements and a real showpiece for the ingenuity and development in timekeeping yet most WIS despise them.

I have a simple Omega Seamaster diver quartz on a rubber strap. It goes on almost every trip with me as the backup or "beater" watch. It's always ready and never fails me. |
