Hi all, I'm new here!

I'm in the process of picking out my first high-ish end watch (grey market). I've decided on a non-chrono PO (even though I prefer a chrono for appearance more than the actual use of it), because the new PO's with the chronos are $1,000 more, and I've stretched pretty far for this regardless.

I've been told that a diver with a chrono is pointless anyways...

I'm fairly certain I am choosing the black face with the silver numbers, since it's a lot more flexible when it comes to matching with whatever I'm wearing. I'm sure you'll all laugh, but, before this, I was intending on purchasing a Carrera 1887.

Now, my question is whether or not I should get the size 42mm or 45.5mm. I have a 7 and 1/2 wrist, and a little over 2 in. width. I don't mind wearing a big watch, but, I am questioning whether or not it'd look ridiculous on me if I got the 45.5. I'd love to try it on, but, there are no reputable AD's around my area. I'd have to go on a road trip just to see them in person.

I heard the 42 looks like a quad stuffed oreo, and the extra mm evens it out. I just don't want to go through the effort of receiving it, and then sending it back, and then receiving the other one --then sending that back because I liked the other one more.

If you are unsure why not take a road trip and see them in person? It is all about the chase/hunt anyways. The last thing you want is get the watch and think " I wish I would have bought the 4xmm". The road trip may open your eyes to something you like even more.

It really is worth a trip to Minneapolis to try them on. You'll know for sure when you have them on the wrist. Then you can stop by Brits or The Local to celebrate with a pint.

My wrist is a little smaller at 7 and 3/8. My forearms are a little thicker and I wear a 45.5 size. I am on my third PO and that size suits me. The 42 feels too small because of the thickness of the case.

Try before you buy, it's a lot of money to spend and then decide it's not the right size. The road trip could save you a lot of money in the long run. Good luck.

Give them try and then you will take 45,5 for sure! 42mm is way too tick for that diameter.. 45,5 is more balanced and it doesnt wear that big. For 7+ wrist is more than suitable..

Go big. I have a 6.75" wrist and the bigger version is fine. The lugs are short on these watches and overhang won't be an issue for you. Case length and width aren't issues with these watches, it's the thickness.

I was in your situation and went with the POC 9300. A chrono on a dive watch may be useless for diving. I never dive, but wear this watch every other day and the chrono has seen plenty of use. Plus, my kids like doing underwater breath holding contests, and it's one of the few chronos that can be used underwater on the market

You have to try both on, no other way! Personally I think I would be happier with the 42 as an everyday piece.

It's such a small world. I was debating between the Tag 1887 and Omega PO. Both are modern and gorgeous. I feel the Tag is better value: it has an exclusive/manufacture movement, column wheel chrono w/ action of the pushers smooth, and from what I've read the accuracy/performance is good, less costly than the PO, and also I heard is was being discontinued. Not sure if I made the best decision, but I know you can't really go wrong, I ultimately went with the PO because: service centre was more accessible for me and the performance of the calibre 8500 is impeccable.

Another vote for trying it on. Diameter doesn't worry me as much as thickness, tho. Watch out for that.

45.5 is the real thing. If it was the 2500 PO I would say go for the 42. But the 8500 PO is meant to be 45.5 mm.
