Dilemma

Thinking of pulling the trigger on an Omega Dark Side of the Moon or a Daytona 116520 white? Main difference being the size..but both are acceptable to me

I understand this is an Omega forum and in spite of being a die hard Omega fan, I would still recommend the Daytona any day over the Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon”. I have handled both watches and the aesthetics of Daytona is much better than the Speedy. Not to forget the prestige and resale value of the daytona. Good luck shopping!

I love the ceramic, it will look brand new in ten, twenty, thirty years.

Buy the watch you want, not the one that will hold it's resale better. You are the one wearing it!

While the Omega is gorgeous, it won't ever be an icon. One clear choice here

Dilemma

Do you need a date? Do you appreciate a clear case back? How do they feel on your wrist?

I had a Daytona for a while but ultimately sold it because I was very underwhelmed with it. It felt too small and the no date was a deal breaker.
I have my Speedy Moonphase to keep me company and I'm more than happy with that.

All things considered. I say go the DSOM route. You will save some cash and have a very unique watch that in my opinion is a much better bang for your buck.

Vintage Daytona? Absolutely.

The current version? I personally would not.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the dark side of the moon is iconic like the Daytona, but I would choose it over the Daytona in a heartbeat. With the correct discount bringing the price of the DSOTM to around 8K. I'd save the extra 4.

As you can probably tell, I really don't like the current Daytona. It's a shiny mess with poor legibility.

Get them both, they're both amazing. By start with the Daytona.

go with the one you like better. rolex costs more and will sell for closer to what you paid for it generally... if you have ocd and flip like me that can be a factor. i personally like the dsotm but it depends on what you have already too imo.

Thanks for the insights, am closing in on the DSOTM now. Part of the reason being the Daytona is seriously difficult to get hold of in my country, and also those who have it are selling it at 10% premium!!
But i suppose its value will maintain over the years..but lets hope the DSOTM's doesn't fall like a stone=S
Hopes it complements my SubC with it being on a strap rather than bracelet.
