"JM:
Here's an interesting thought – I kind of wish this were my first Daytona. It's so good, and so right, I'd be sleeping with it, showering with it on. We all remember our first Rolex, and just imagine if THIS were your first? Watches this good, even Rolexes this good, do not come along often."

This will be my first Rolex and the hype is killing me right now.

I just wish they did a video of this conversation instead of an article. Their video content is so good.

This will be my first Daytona and second Rolex. The wait is killing me and I think my phone calls are killing my sales lady.

I would buy one right now, I am not sure I would feel the same way a year from now.

Something tells me that this hype was created so that Rolex can sell them as they come off the assembly line...

A bit over the top for me, they need to cool their jets a bit and come back down to the realization that it's a dial and bezel update. Not a modern PN.

I'm all for excitement - I'm in line at my AD, will likely buy 2-3 when the opportunity comes but I'm not buying into the hype or the notion that a ss Daytona should go for 30k.

The hype is a little annoying, IMHO.

I agree it's a bit too hyped, if it had a panda dial or crosshair subdials then maybe justified.

Must be nice to be especially targeted by Rolex. Not like the watch needed the extra hype! But, whatever, the pictures are !

As someone who doesn't have a dog in the fight re getting one, and while I don't think it was their intent, it comes off as more than slightly elitist.

As much as I love the new Daytona, it's far from perfect as these two seem to feel. Brushed PCLs and lugs and I'd share their giddiness. Still want one though as I feel it's a step up, albeit incremental, over the current 116520 and it's just a hell of a good looking watch.

I agree. I was excited to read it, and have been happy to see members post theirs. This article was hard to read, way over the top. John Mayer came off like a bit of a tool.

I'm sure they got free Daytonas.
Costs Rolex nothing, but it's worth over a million in marketing over the long term.

Both purchased in the nyc boutique no doubt. I suspect the front door hadn't latched closed behind them before they were on the horn with Geneva: "guess who just ordered the new Daytona! Be sure we get some from the first batch!"

Rolex is not dumb. They know who these guys are and I would not be surprised to learn they got a text similar to one another member got... Only difference is "do an article" was in there somewhere.

Whatever. It's a game I'd rather not play but some enjoy it.
