Sent the P.O.S. off today...
Ok so I took my broken LV to the dealer today to send off to Rolex, and despite my massively negative feelings towards it for the past week or so, I put it on my wrist on the way there and it makes all my other watches feel like poor immitations/toys/girl watches.
Im pretty keen for a Sea Dweller as well though, so don't know whether to trade in the LV when it comes back, or keep it and pay up for an SD. Hmmm. 6-8 weeks... CTS!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice if Rolex gave out loaners while your watch is away getting serviced?

Actually, that would be a very nice gesture. It would set Rolex SA apart from the other riff-raff!

Dunhill used to do that with its lighters. I don't know what the deal is now.

Sorry to hear that. Hope the time goes fast. And you're right, it seems all others pale in comparison.

Anyway while waiting, why not nip over to WoS on Princes Street, they have a lovely, shiny, glossy, TEMPTING, new SD in the window. You know it makes sense!

Man I'm sorry. I had one that wasn't right from jump street. It happens, but it sucks when it happens to you.
It will come back the way it should have been from the start. Hang in there. |

I could tell you, but then a mod would have to ban me. Go to http://www.urbandictionary.com. Look up P.O.S.

On the brite side of things it is only 6 to 8 weeks time does move quickly. It will be back before you know it. If you have the funds or can get 0 percent interest now may be the time to buy the SD before they go away.

Allow me to reiterate: it happened to me, too. My new Z-serial 16610 spit out its balance wheel at 6 weeks. It was a quick, straightforward fix at the AD, who has a Rolex certified watchmaker in house.
The reason all the other watches feel poorly in comparison is because the Sub is in fact, the real deal, after all. If possible, get the SD as well. In addition to being incredible watches, they'll end up being collector's dreams one day, a la the 5513.

Why didn't you ask me that silly question when we had met up in Auckland a month ago, Eddie?

It happens. I had my Sub stop on me a few years back, but I asked my local AD to fix it, which he did in 7 days (but it was not in warranty).

I saw that SD a couple of days before I took the LV in - when I went in with it, the SD was gone. I probably would have bought it - having felt the wrench of sending the LV away I needed something to replace it! Now if thats not a frivolous purchase....

6-8 weeks. I had a screw go in my watch a couple of years ago, and it took a week. I ended up getting rid of the watch though as it was never right again after that. The watch in question was a SD. I did however end up getting another SD a year later.
My advice to you would be to question the length of time; any watch under warranty takes priority - 6-8 weeks is too long! I know what you mean about the LV though, it is a great watch - I love mine! |

Keep the LV
and buy the SD. You'll never run into same situation when either one is due for overhaul and you'll always have a Rollie on your wrist.
