Explorer II mistaken dial?

Hi,
I'm new here.
I bought an Explorer II M-series new and found the II in the dial looks different compared to the black Explorer II. I have seen it at the old GMT Master II, but I have never heard about it at the Explorer. Anything wrong, should I complain at Rolex?
Thanks for insights
Martin

If you bought it from an authorized dealer then you probably don't have anything to worry about. I don't know how the II is supposed to look on the new Explorer but it's not uncommon that Rolex makes very slight changes to the fonts over time.

Both are brand new. M-series and watch band marked with PJ1. I guess this must be 2008, Jan.?
However, authorized dealer: YES!

Thre is clearly a difference in the font, is this due to the black writing not needing to be so BOLD against the White face?

Sounds like a good explanation to me.

There is clearly a difference. Not sure why but the lighter background may have something to do with it.

Some font differences are pretty common from watch to watch..

I'm not sure what your complaint would be.......

Could we be witnessing another example of the white face having stick markers instead of roman numeral style on the black.....the new 3186 movement perhaps!! Crack those pupies open!!

Slight font differences are pretty normal, it is also common to see different positioning of the markers where the "swiss made" is at the 6:00 position. This is nothing different than that

Did a wiggle-test and it seems the white dial is a 3186. I have compared it with the black Explorer II M serial, GMT Master Z (Pepsi) and GMT Master II Ceramic.
White Explorer and GMT Ceramic don't "wiggle".

It looks just like my K-Serial Expy II. Have fun with it. It's a beauty.

Here is a picture courtesy of

preownedrolex.com.
slightly different angle but the writing looks more like the white one you have.
I've seen the II actually separated from each other by a tiny space as well.
