Hi all,

I picked up a new OEM strap today from the jewelers I bought my Panerai from. It's size 24/22, 115/175 and there's quite a big problem: the indent for the deployant buckle is a tad too narrow.

Other than that, the strap is fine. A solution would be to just cut it wider, but I don't really want to do that to a £120 strap. Did I purchase the wrong kind of strap?

Okay, I know what the problem is. The strap is for a buckle, not a deployant. Need to get me a buckle now! Anyone know what an OEM buckle should cost?

Way too much IMO. I think I priced out out at $175 Cdn

Contact some of the strap makers listed over at www.paneristi.com.
They should be able to set you up with some decent buckles for reasonable prices.

Get the 22mm Pre-V styled buckle,not the smaller 22mm buckles they usually supply with the Luminors.Pics on their website

Buckles roughly equals a OEM calf strap in cost.Not cheap.

Woahh, I can't believe they would charge that much for a buckle! The thing has to be worth, what? - 10p! In any event, thanks guys, I'll go for an afermarket buckle. Will post pics when it comes!

most of the aftermarket strap guys have some great buckles...try BOB's straps....you can find his store via ebay......

I found the strap I got online, so you can have a look. This one actually is for a deployant buckle - mine is not.

Can't wait until my buckle comes now!

For what occasions might you say this strap is appropriate? Not that I intend on wearing it only on certain occasions - but I'd like to get your feedback on how you perceive it.

That is known as a Riva. Pretty versatile if you ask me, can be worn in most situations. My preference for this one is with jeans or slacks and a shirt. A little too "nice" for shorts, would work with a suit also.

BTW, I believe if you picked up one of these for a tang buckle it is a Hirsch. I don't think that Panerai carries an OEM version for the tang, just for deployant.

go to www.europelli.com and then give the owner Drew Watson a call. He, IMHO, has the best screw in Panerai buckles around. Designed so the end peices of the buckle where the screw goes in is not to big and does not dig into the wrist. He charges around $40 for a buckle and $49 for PVD coated buckle. You need a 22mm one.

He also has some of the best straps out there as well!

europelli has some really nice buckles...i just picked one up and I love it..pre v

Got my buckle today! My strap looks great with it. However now I realise, I need some tubes for the strap. Will it be okay to wear until I get some (I'll order some of watchobsession now)?

This strap is going to need some serious wearing in! The buckle does it make very comfortable though.

Here are some horrible photos, until I have my girlfriend take some better ones tomorrow:
