Proud new owner of Submariner

Hey guys and gals, I bought my first Rolex 10 hours ago :-) I bought it new from an authorized dealer.

I used to think anyone who dropped a few grand on a watch was crazy. That is until I started researching Rolexes and realized that they hold their value so well to the point that owning one is almost free. Not the I intend to sell my baby any time soon but knowing that I can sell it for nearly what I paid or maybe even more after some time makes it all make sense.

My brother bought his Rolex new 8 years ago for $2700. He sent it in to Rolex for servicing recently and they appraised it's replacement value at $5700! It has more than doubled in price. His watch is being advertised on the internet, USED, for $4000!

So it's not so crazy after all :-)

One question - I noticed no one likes to publish their serial numbers, only showing the series letter and one or two digits... why?!

Sam

Welcome Sam

Full serial numbers are probably best kept private, just for security purposes.

Enjoy the forums.

Some buy motorcycles, boats etc some by watches / jewelry. I will have my Rolex long after those other folks have sold their toys!
