Why I chose the DJII over the DJ 41
Why I chose the DJII over the DJ 41
So I recently purchased a DJII and I chose it over the DJ 41 for a few reasons I would like to mention. 1) I could not find the Chocolate dial Dj 41 and wasn't ready to pay brand new as a rule I usually never pay retail because of instant decrease in price. 2) Allthough I do like the jubilee bracelet on the new DJ 41 I would prefer the hidden clasp and not to crazy about the easy link clasp. I feel like it just does not match the watch. I was thinking maybe an all stainless easy link clasp would might work better and keep it more in line of the older 36mm DJ. Maybe in the future it will grow on my or maybe they will add in the hidden clasp that would make it a winner for me. 3) I actually like the bigger fluted bezel on the DJ II. I know everyone says its to bulky but I like bulky and I like the presence that it gives the watch. It wears more like the explorer II 42mm. The DJ 41 bezel may be more in proportion right,….. but, thats relative. 4) Stick markers. I prefer the wider bigger stick markers on the DJ II. More lume area for the night and in my opinion it keeps to the same bulkiness as the rest of the watch. 5) Rather than waiting for chocolate dial to come available in the used market I wanted instant gratification of owning a DJ now. 6) The insiders are not as important to me because in my opinion ROLEX makes great watches, and I don't think I will have any problem keeping time with this DJ II nor do I think an owner of a 1960's DJ has a hardship keeping accurate time. So I can use this one now and who knows maybe in the next year or two things will change and allow for a new watch. 7) I was drawn to the chocolate dial of the new DJ 41mm and absolutely love it with the combo of rose gold but I am hoping that either they will fit the older DJ II or at the least I would like to maybe custom make a green dial or chocolate and orange dial combo. But, because of 1-5 this is the least important to me. Maybe this will help someone on the fence of waiting for the new DJ 41 or pulling the trigger on a DJ II sometimes its good to put things into perspective and go with what makes sense now and not for 1+ years from now. You chose a great watch. I recently purchased one too. Mine is the stainless steel with white gold bezel and a white face.

I've got to agree with you there. My 1968 1603 is comfortably running with (what was at the time) COSC specs and is damn close to the current requirements. |

I like how you explained your choice and I agree with each point. I am waiting to see the DJ 41 in all SS with the Jubilee Band and hidden clasp. I might pick one up then. I have owned several DJ II's and have always found them to be a very comfortable watch. Your watch is beautiful. If I was to want a TT yours might be the combination I would go with.

I love my DJ II. I got a stainless with white dial and I agree I like the larger bezel and it just fits my wrist better. I love the chocolate with the jubilee braclet but it needs the the hidden clasp for sure. Awesome watch. Wear it in good health.

Welcome to TT DJII club One month ago I also purchased TT DJ II with champagne dial and 10 diamonds. My reasons were quite simple:
1) At that moment DJ 41 was not available; 2) When I put TT DJ II on my wrist I immediately felt this is my watch; 3) After one month when I was in Seoul I tried DJ 41 and did not like how JUB bracelet felt on my wrist. That was an additional prove to myself that I made really good decision. |

Beautiful watch. Congrats. Although I like proportions of the new dj 41, I never saw anything wrong with the dj II.

Beautiful watch. I think DJIIs are going away soon and it won't be long before it's looked back at very fondly. It's a classic Rolex on 'roids, in the best possible sense. It really has a personality and such tremendous wrist presence. Enjoy it in the best of health

In my opinion, the white dial is the most striking color for a watch face. I too like the stick RR ties. I own a DJ TT with white face and a SS Datejust 41 with white face and love both watches. I purchased the DJ 41 new trading in my 17 year old SS Datejust. I ended getting more on trade-in than I paid for the watch. So I can't complain. Enjoy your beautiful watch.
