Genuine Oyster Clasp?
Is this oyster clasp genuine?
The code stamp/markings look strange - "2/72" I was expecting an alphabetic code (to date it). If authentic, any idea what bracelet or reference this belongs to? P.S. ... apologies for the low quality smartphone pics. My phone is probably older than this clasp... |

I can't say 100 percent, but the logo looks good. Early bracelets often had the month and year stamped on the clasps. My authentic rivet bracelet is stamped just like yours.

I have a similar Oyster bracelet and I was told the same thing that it is old enough to predate the current letter-number coding system.

The one on my 6265 read 1 71 exactly as above. Given that it matched the serial year-wise, I would indeed say it's kosher.

It's missing the other half of the blade that would have likely had the part number stamped.
Half a clasp isn't much good unless you are just repairing another.
