Buy an Oakley case - $20. It should fit anything but an SDDS perfectly. Put it in there, and then inside whatever bag you put on the belt for scanning.

I travel over 100 times per year and I ALWAYS leave my Rolex on and it has never once set off the metal detectors. Keep it on.

Since they always ask for your tickets and ID, I have that in my hand, with ARM EXTENDED to them as I walk through the detector. And smile! Now your watch is on the other side of the detector while you are still on this side, yet to go through. So now your watch will not add to other metal you may be wearing.

This only works of course if your watch alone will not set off the sensor, and so not have rings on that hand.
You will not believe this, but last week I was in Canberra (the capital city of Australia where people are officious bureaucrats) and I walk through the metal detector archway and while doing so raise my left hand in front of me to look at my watch.

Nothing happens, no alarm, buzzer, light anything........
The next thing is the security officer says to me, "Go back and walk through the metal detector properly!"
I was stunned
I said, "I did walk through properly!"
The officer said, "Walk through with your hands by your sides".
I said, "I've never ever had anyone tell me to do that before, it's absurd."
At that stage I could see myself getting an internal body search so I did what I was told, but really this is just ridiculous
When I walked through the metal detector archway again, I did swing my left arm slightly to bring it in front of me, but again no alarm, and the security guard didn't say anything.
How dumb is that...........
