Red Submariner
Why does everyone get excited about the Red sub? Are they rare?

Simply because they don't make them anymore! Rare, no! At any given time there are a dozen for sale on various forums. The bigger problem is sifting through the mine field of fakes on this reference.

Rare enough that in 34 years, I've never come across another one by chance. There seem to be a few I see on auction, but whether all that are for sale are genuine is another matter.
But the numero uno reason it excites me is it is still my favorite watch Rolex has ever made, symbolizing everything that Rolex meant to me as a watchmaker. It is beautiful in its simplicity and ruggedness. I also include the double red sea-dweller in that. |
