Very impressive for Hong Kong to be # 1 and the US #2 considering my very rough and non-scientific calculations that the US is 8900 times the size of Hong Kong and the US population is 43 times that of Hong Kong. I lived in HK for a while and knew they liked their watches but I didn't realize they were such WIS's.

That's impressive that Hong Kong took the title.
Is it still true that Hong Kong holds the most Rolls Royce cars per capital or per square miles??

That is pretty interesting indeed
It seems that the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry would be a fairly reliable source, but it doesn't break the watches down into brands. :

Now that I think about it is it per capita? That would seem to make more sense.

I don't see any such indication on the chart.

I think this is a misnomer. HK is a good size market, but most of the people who actually buys Swiss watches are mainland Chinese tourists.
In HK there is no GST/import tax so mainland Chinese can buy them tax free and just wear them back home into China, while buying in China will be like 20% more expensive due to import tax.
You can see truckloads of mainlanders arriving in HK tourist districts like TsimShaTsui and they just grab everything they can get their hands on.
The numbers for HK and China should be combined, IMHO.

Italians surprise me... I thought they were more into cars and designer products.
So, you thought, that Italians were only interested in Belle Machine, scarpi, pasta, amore e gellati...???...:

The truth is that they have been into Rolex watches long before anyone else.

There are even Rolex models dedicated solely to the Italian market.
Especially any gold "head" with leather strap.
Oh and before I forget, some of the books "tools" for any collector
were written by Italians and that the "biggest" (world wide), Rolex collectors are in Italy.!!

I was surprised to see that Greece imported more than $65M dollars in Rolex watches,
a country where the average annual tax return is only $16.000 dollars,
filed from less than three million people...wow...

Hmm, Canada is right there behind Qatar, in 24th position. Those 4 Eskimos, 3 polar bears and I are trying to uphold the Rolex brand.

Not surprising HK is #1
Every other person there wears a Rollie, I guess they're all real.

Hong Kong is also one of the largest import/export capitals in the world..

Most of the Grey Market watches in the US come from HK.. So, although the Swiss export many watches there, many of them go right back out to their distribution networks without ever opening the box..
