Hi everyone,

I got my YG President serviced back in March of this year. Everything was perfect. Today at work, my watch just stopped. I thought that it was the power reserve but i wound it and that wasn't the problem. I have no idea what's wrong with it.

Also this is a vintage watch with a genuine Tiffany & Co. dial. I got it serviced from Sutters Watch Repair in Chicago Illinois but they will be closed until Septermeber 2nd. Can Rolex NY service my 60 year old watch without touching the dial/hands as well as upholding the 1 year warrenty from Sutters???

Please Help!!!!

I have heard US RSC not servicing watch older than 30 years old. I know there have been several members that have had their vintage model serviced by RSC. I would try to contact Sutters and have them service it again. I think they should be responsible. Do they offer a one year warranty?

Yes Sutter's does offer a 1 yrs warrenty and my watch is still under warrenty becuase i had it serviced in March. I just don't want to wait until September 2nd and then wait a month to have it returned to me like last time...

Beyond winding it and advancing the time and date to be sure the crown positions are doing their thing I would only suggest holding the watch head so it faces your palm and is facing up your arm. Gently but quickly rock it back and forth a couple times by rotating your wrist to jump start the balance. It won't take much action to get it to start if it is going to run.

If that doesn't start it it really needs service. Generally this isn't necessary but every great once and a while they can need a nudge.

Calling RSC NY won't hurt, the absolute worst they may say is no. RSC Dallas may be able to assist you as well. Many things could have gone wrong in your watch or a new one, each of the 100% fixable. Rest assured, if an RSC will not do what needs to be done, someone here will be able to point you to a good person that will get your beauty running great in no time!!!

Got any pics of your Pres? I'll bet it's gorgeous!

A very valid option. It is reasonable to assume they will take every step necessary to "make up" anything they could have missed, and since this is a returning client, be reasonable with any other charges.

The only two RSC that would work on vintage watches is RSC-Chicago and San Francisco. Both are independently owned but can issued Rolex 1 yr warranty.

I had occasion to use Sutter's when I was still up north and found them to be highly reputable and customer focused. I know waiting is hard when you wear your watch daily but I would strongly recommend holding off for the couple of weeks they will be on vacation. I'm sure they will find and correct the problem if it was in any way connected to the original service. Because of the age of the watch it could be an unrelated issue.

But, really, it's under warranty.

If you only have one Rolex, now would be a good time to buy another one. Then it won't be as painful to wait! Now that I have the second, I think I need a third one so I'll have a choice when one is in the shop.

Rolex NY said that they would replace the dial and hands. So I am going to ship my watch to Sutter's Watch Repair tomorrow.

I just find it strange that this is the second time i had a problem with the rotor...

any thoughts?

I think its just luck of the draw.... i have a 1991 Day/Date that runs perfect only gains about 30sec per month....in pristine condition....If it ant broke don't fix it!

I just sent in MY DD for servicing and (oils dried up).

They said that one of the jewls popped out, so he just put it back in.

Also, it was running about +12 seconds per day and the watchmaker said that he would try to have it between +2-+4 seconds.

I can't wait to get it back. I should have it by next Fri or Mon. I will post pics!
