We are going to miss them

We are going to miss the legendary SS and TT blue submariner we already miss the Sea dweller and the pepsi/coke/black GMT

Do you think that it would be a good idea to get yourselves an SS sub as it will be out of production in a few years since it will be replaced by a ceramic sub probably ?

Which model will be next ?

Are they really going to discontinue the SS Sub and keep the WG and YG ones? I doubt it... I sure hope not.

I plan to buy a 14060m pre-COSC within the next few months. If I cannot find one then I will settle for the COSC 14060m. No doubt this model will eventually be faded out also.

Well, unlike the new GMT-C, the ceramic Sub looks the same as the previous one, the bezel look hasn't changed (just the material... ceramic instead of metal). So I don't see it as a bad thing really.

Either way, I have an SS Sub and I love it! :) I want a GMTII C too!

I think that the ceramic sub will be a really cool and nice watch to own. Wonder if it will be equipped with a glidelock clasp

I feel a bit sad that they will discontinue the iconic old-style sub one day and it sure will be missed by many

Well, according to the Rolex website, the new Submariner will have the GLIDELOCK clasp: http://rolex.com/en/collection/the-n...iner/index.jsp

I don't think you should be upset about the new ceramic Sub at all. I wouldn't call it discontinuing as much as I would say it's "upgrading", ceramic is just better, stronger, and longer lasting!

I'll second that. I just got my 14060 (non-COSC) this weekend and it is really a joy to wear. I love the clean dial. I'm curious to see what happens to the value now that the COSC version is all that's available new. I like the chronometer movement on the new version, but they could have done without the extra writing--it kind of ruined a classic look.

Go ahead and pick one up. You won't be disappointed.

I don't think there's any reason for concern; Subs in their current form will be available for a long long time on the used market. There were just way too many produced to make a run on them.

That's sad to here. Personally, I hate the ceramic bezel inserts and the polished center links.

And I'll triple that! I picked one up a few months back and love it. It is truly the sub with the best pedigree.

Seems like a lot of us are singing the same song......there was a thread from JJ last year that recommended picking up the classic SS models of Icon watches like the Sub and GMT before they ran out.......seems like the supply is really coming to an end now.

The question is which model will be discontinued first?

Will Rolex discontinue the 14060m and 16610 and introduce them at one go, say in Basel 2009? Or discontinue the 14060m in 2009 and the 16610 in 2010? Effectively getting more buyers for each watch.

The product life cycle principle would apply well here.

I think the new ceramic bezel would look good on an updated Sub. After all, the look will be essentialy the same and the ceramic is more robust.

What I would hate is if they increased the size to anything larger than 40mm. If there is any chance of this happening then I too would rush to buy a Sub now while stocks last.

Can anyone confirmed that Submariner 14060m production stopped already?
I will pick one up (my first ever Rolex) before February 2009 since I will be on vacation to Hong Kong at that time.

Anyone has any idea on what will the new sub. looked like? Do you think it will look better than the current sub?

I am newbie at Rolex, so any help would be nice.

Believe it or not all watches are certified, they just did not put the extra tag or writing on the dial. This goes for older air-kings also.

Decided to get a gold watch and wanted a Bluesy. Could have waited for the new ones, but wanted the cobalt blue color more than I thought I'd miss the: ceramic bezel, adjustable clasp and parachrom mainspring.

If you want one of the most popular watches in the Rolex line -- the TT Blusey, you have at least a year or more to get a current model. By then you'll have seen the ceramic Bluesy on the new gold Subs and decide for yourself.
