New use for a Rolex

007 pioneered a new use for a Rolex, as described by Ian Flemming in On Her Majesty's Secret Service -

"He softly retrieved his gloves from the bathroom, put on the goggles so that they rested in his hair above the forehead, tied the dark-red handkerchief tightly across his nose, schnapps into hip pocket and, finally, Gillette through the fingers of the left hand and the Rolex transferred to his right, the bracelet clasped in the palm of his hand and round the fingers so that the face of the watch lay across his middle knuckles."

- a Knucleduster

Funny, 'cos I almost used my Sub as a knuckle duster in a pub one night. That was a while ago when I was young and stupid. Now I'm just stupid.

I've often wondered if I were ever in a situation where aggressive action would have to be taken if I would have the courage to sacrifice my watch.

I dont think I would. Also, I wonder just how effective a Rolex strap would be as a knuckleduster ? The clasp on my Sub feels as if it would easily buckle under the strain. The new new Super Jubilee might fare better.

No, no. In the novel OHMSS Bond used the face of the watch as the knuckle-duster, not the clasp. I dare say that would hurt. Especially since in the novel Bond shattered the crystal when he hit the guy.

This might be one time I would prefer the DSSD over the Sub.

The rolex spring bar never seem to holds up when i fought...
I've always had to pick up the Rolies off the floor or reach deep into my sleeve to retrive it and stop by an AD to pick up a new spring bar.

That's been my experience.
The spring bars always pop.
Did you ever try to find a spring bar in the dark of an alley?

Oh boy a new use for the DSSD...

I can just imagine it now, be on the look out for a guy with a BIG F'in watch!
Yes, we can identify him by it as he left a BIG mark in the victims forehead.

As for the Corum bubble, be careful with that thing...
Didn't you mom warn you that you could poke an eye
out with that thing??? I still want a Corum Bubble Skeleton!

I never looked for them, I assumed the little metal spring part that goes in broke off

Monkfish, that is scary.
And yes that knuckleduster would hurt your knuckles.

Nasty. Yep, DSSD could well be the watch Bond would chose now maybe even over the Sub. DSSD would pack a nasty punch - YM would do quite well too.

I have had to use my Sd as a adjustment tool on another fellas face. I held it clasp shut with the face forwards.

rather than doing a imprint, i used it in a dowards stroke on the bridge of the nose, tearinf flesh and breaking cartilage. The follow up was to the side orbit of the eye. The watch required a sopy watter cleaning and a soft cloth treament. It did not lose any time or gain any time, and frankly was none the worse for wear. Seems it does a most excellent job of tooth removal as well. The saphire crystal withstands a goodly amount of frontal abuse.

I realize some of you are looking at the sub as jewelery, but there was a time when the sub had fixed bars and you had to pass or weave a NATO strap thru them.
