this just in.....

heard from a very reliable source that the GV will be discontinued next year!!
initial reports stated it may run for five years but I have just been told it will cease by the middle of next year.
super collectible?
will it turn out to be true?
we will have to wait and see I guess.
anyone else have confirmation?

They should discontinue the YMII.
It is definitely the black sheep of Rolex.

I have info from an AD who just had a visit from Rolex that the GV will be discontinued, it is initially believed the others will run for 4 more years but not confirmed.

My AD's explanation as to why the GV might be discontinued is that Rolex seem to be moving all its models towards the new, polished-center link bracelets that are now on the Daytona, Milgauss and GMT-2c and when they finally do, the GV will be dropped.

This is purely a hunch on his part and I'm not quite sure I follow the logic since there's nothing to stop Rolex from continuing to make the GV with the new bracelet. Still, as a GV owner myself, I'd be interested to see how this all works out.

Only because of its cost - if it was $8,000, it would be the new fad.

My AD said that the the GV is here to stay for years to come. So great news for those who really like to have it for personal wear!

i am sure this pure speculation probably started by people who have gvs for sale and are disapointed by the falling prices. how many other models can you name that rolex have made for such a short production run. only the beta quartz springs to mind. gv is a low volume production watch here to stay in my opinion.

nice theory but the person who told me has nothing to gain by telling me that it will cease production-he is just in a position to have knowledge about it and I had asked him about a month ago ,and he said he would check into it.
I was told by a fellow trf'er that they had heard it would cease production so I checked in with him and he did verify that it was scheduled to end..
but of course nothing is ever written in stone-I can only go on what I have heard-regardless that the source is very compelling.

My AD told me about Rolex want to discountinue GV too.
I'm planning to buy one if the value is already "normal".
