Fast or slow COSC

I understand that the standard is -4/+6

My 116600 is running +6 its still under warranty.


Iis it likely to further speed up or do the watches usually stay at the same + / - ?


I guess im better of having it fast rather than slow, at least I wont be late :)

If it's consistent, you are better leaving it alone IMO.

That depends on your tag, is it the red one or the modern green one? The modern green one is +2/-2.

In my experience they usually stay about the same.
If you do decide to get it regulated be sure to take plenty of photos of your watch before handing it over as Rolex have advised that they do not check the watch condition on receipt and will argue that any damage was there before they received the watch.
It pains me to say this but even though they state +/-2 spd I'd advise living with it out of tolerance based on my experience of RSC here in the UK.

Even if your watch gains a second or two beyond the plus 6, will you even notice, or impact your timeliness? At +7, 8,or 9 seconds it is still incredibly accurate.

What I'm suggesting to you is that the less a watch is opened the better.

Leave well-enough alone.

My watch ran slightly fast +2 for over a year and is now consistently -1

They change, just like us.

I'd leave it....better fast than slow. Easier to adjust (just pause it) and I'd rather be early than late

I hadn't thought about it until reading the OPs post. So I went to look at my new (to me) Daytona and it was -3 sec. Sounds good, eh?

Well here is the rest of the story...I hadn't checked it since last sync'g it with Time.is on Sept. 10th for a WRUW post. So that's -3 in 4 days!!!

What I've learned about myself and COSC is the more I love a watch, the less I check it

i would take it to rsc to have regulate it. it can run tighter. tell them what time you observe. it could end up -2s though...

Always better to run + than -.

Unless you have ready access to RSC adjusting will cost shipping and at least a month's wait time. Not worth it imho.

Experiment with how you position the watch at night. Crown down might offset some or all of the +6. I use the WatchTracker app and by adjusting the position for the 8 hours at night when I don't wear my 16710 I am able to keep it to within a fraction of a second a day. My current run is 2.4 seconds TOTAL offset over 25 days.

Far from being an OCD nuisance I have fun playing at keeping the watch on time by choosing the right resting position.

If it matters, I am less than a mile from the RSC in Beverly Hills.

My green tag BLRO was plus 8. I sent it in. It's now plus 2. In hind site, I'm not sure it was worth the month the Dallas RSC had it.

I also agree better fast then slow. Running fast, all you have to do is hack it every so often, to correct the time.

I would leave it a bit...it may settle down for you with some time.

If it stays there-or worsens-you could always find a good independent watchmaker with a Rolex account who could regulate it while you wait. It's about a 15 minute job.
