Vintage Rolex GMT Master Ref. 1675 MK1 Dial Small Hand

Like so many of Rolex's iconic models, the GMT Master was born out of necessity. In the early 1950s, Rolex collaborated with Pan-Am to develop a watch for commercial air pilots. With advancements in technology and longer flight times, pilots needed to be able to track changes in time zones along their routes. While modern pilots have other instrumentation to track time changes, the GMT Master has cemented itself as an immensely popular classic and is one of the most iconic watches of all time.

The reference 1675 we have here is a great example of the early classic reference 1675 GMT Master. It features the Mark 1 "Long E" dial with an original small 24 hour hand, a combination coined as the Mark 0.5 GMT, as the small 24 hour hand was a carryover from the gilt dial era and was equipped only on early matte dial examples.

This 1675 GMT appears completely original with an outstanding dial, original faded fat font bezel insert, twinlock crown, and a thick case that still retains the original factory chamfers.

Take a look at the photos and the condition rundown below.

Case: 40mm stainless steel case in excellent vintage condition. The case has seen minimal polishing and retains the factory lug chamfers as shown in the photos. There is wear throughout the case consistent with years of wear, but no major eyesores or large dings or dents.

Bezel: Original bidirectional Pepsi bezel in very good condition as pictured. The red portion has faded to a light color, and the insert shows surface scratches and nicks.

Dial/Hands: Original matte Mark 1 "Long E" dial in excellent condition with no spotting or damage. The original tritium lume has faded to an even creamy patina that looks wonderful in the flesh. The hands are also original including the small arrow 24 hour hand, appropriate for the reference and serial. The tritium in the hands has faded to an even patina darker than the hour markers.

Caseback: Original steel caseback in worn condition as shown. The caseback has some wear likely from a previous improper opening. However, the standard Rolex tool still fits and removes the caseback, and there are no issues with the caseback properly sealing.

Crystal: OEM Rolex acrylic crystal that shows some wear as pictured.

Movement: Caliber 3175 Rolex Automatic GMT movement keeping excellent time. All functions work as they should.

Bracelet/Strap: New brown vintage style leather strap.

Accessories: None, sold as watch only.

Price is $10,000 shipped insured FedEx overnight CONUS via PayPal or wire (3% discount for wire). US sale preferred, international sales will pay the cost of shipping.
