Plenty of SD 16600 in Dubai....

Just returned from my honeymoon in Dubai. I've entered every single Rolex dealer in town ( in the malls). Each one of them had a SD on display, none of them a DS. Where is all this SD hunt then.....

I'm not surprised at all, Randy. The Middle East is a bigger market for the gold and diamond studded models.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

Did you get to go to the indoor ski slopes? I saw a program a couple of weeks >>

ago where they showed that. Also, there is an ice bar where everything is frozen and sculped out of ice. Dubai seems like a great place. Definitely one of the world's wealthiest play grounds. Congrats to you and the Mrs.

Ooooh i agree with you brandon..one of the safest place in the world..you can leave your bag in the park in the morning and come back at night and it will be still there...if you get caught stealing your hand will be cut away...Then theres only one place to put your watch.. the only country that doesnt care about financial crisis..the only country that has a 6 Star Hotel Burg Al Arab...i heard there is an entrance fee just to go inside if your not checking in..all the pillars and utensils are made of gold...Take a look at Palms Island...they build a Village in the middle of the Ocean...You have to have a Choper or plane or a Yatch to be there...

They certainly have very impressive construction projects going there in Dubai.
I think it won't feel the financial pinch unless oil price goes back to $15 per barrel for a long time. even that, Dubai will still be a rich place

I was not impressed at all by Dubai. I guess the place is way overhyped for what it really is. Right now there's a lot of construction everywhere and getting around by taxi is really miserable. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton and at Al Qasr ,this last one is a truly fantastic hotel part of the Burj complex, wich I have the chance to visit for free. The Burj al Arab is one big, tacky and showy building, with lots of Ferraris and Lambos parcked up front.

I've lived in Las Vegas and in Orlando,FL,so what have I found in Dubai was already a been there done that thing, just very way to much overpriced. We found the food absolutely disgusting but very cheap, even in upscale restaurant, where it was mediocre anyway.

I really did not like the muslim way of life, sorry. In each shopping mall we got bad stares just because we were holding hand or facing each other on the escalators. There were signs at the mall entrance wich reported " please avoid innocent display of affection". I mean....if they want western tourists to flood them with money they need to relax a bit.

Dubai will be nice.....when it will be finished...

I recently travelled around the world a bit, including a stop in Dubai (where I bought my GMTIIc) and I have to agree that Dubai definitely 'feels' extremely safe. Felt alot more threatened and was a lot more weary on the streets of Rome and Paris than i was in Dubai. The city is not for everyone but I enjoyed it. Rolex range is extensive, AD's basically had every model in stock and on display (except SS Daytona) and customer service is first class.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Dubai doesn't actually export very much oil if any.
