Deepsea New V PreOwned

I’m looking to buy a black Deepsea and was hoping to pick up a nice preowned one, maybe two/three years old with some warranty still outstanding. Having looked around for the last month or so, I now realise that I’ll be paying almost RRP and this make no sense to me, as I might as well buy new for that money.
Therefore, my search has had to widen to slightly older models. What do other members think of going for a 7/8 year old model to save £1,500 off RRP ? Is this a false economy ? I realise I will have to factor in the cost of a potential service, and will not have the benefit of the manufacturers warranty. Would you spend the extra and buy new ? Or buy a nice older model ?
I would be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this, and would appreciate any help/advice.

I wouldn't worry about a warranty. Overblown.

^ As above I would focus more on the watch and not how much manufacturers warranty it has. If buying from a UK grey dealer you will get some form of warranty, usually between 6 months and 2 years, which will cover mechanical defect along similar lines to Rolex. The DSSD is a great choice by the way

A month ago I purchased my Black DeepSea...Used, with 3.5 years left on the warrantee should I need it...

The watch was "Pristine"...

And I saved over 3k US...

But I would buy what you really want...

Money saved buying something you don't really love, is money wasted...

I wouldn't worry about warranty and the Deepsea is built like a tank, I have a 2010 DSSD and it's still in near mint condition, even more so once it goes in for a service in 12-18 months.

I bought mine from WF 2 years ago for £6K

Indeed. This.

All Watches need servicing - eventually.

Buy the Watch in the best condition you can find...for what you are willing to pay.

Apart from major case damage - it will be like new after service.

Are you getting it serviced just on the age or is it showing signs of needing one ?

I’ve just been checking out the pre owned price and they do seem to have crept up over the last couple of months. I wouldn’t be too keen on paying close to £7k for a 6/7 year old example, unless it had just been serviced by RSC
They are not that hard to source from an AD you could even try your luck with a discount.

No I'm going to hold off until it needs it, runs like absolute clock work and never misses a beat, unlike my brand new GMT. I think I will hold out for the 10 year service

a used of 4o5 years is usually new.

the caliber of the deepsea is that of the submariner, do not worry about a future service

I am also in favor of buying a new black
(10/15% discount probable)

Gone are the days you will get discount on a new one, especially in the UK! discount on SS models seems to be a thing of the past

They do appear in AD’s windows, but don’t seem to hang about. Most places I’ve spoken to have said they can get one within a month or two. I’d have thought the chance of a discount was slim to none.
Pre owned have definitely crept up, which is why I’ve been thinking “what’s the point in buying pre owned for only £500-£700 off the price of a new one ?

Another option is a grey seller. Ive seen one advertised at £8800 for a BNIB with stickers intact, there may be some more wiggle room.
Then again same situation I suppose and extra £100 get one from the AD with your name on the warranty card.
