Just Won Auction
I'd like to ask for your opinion. I just won an auction from Fellows Auction House in the UK. The item I won is the Omega Seamaster Chronograph Olympic Series London 1948. What is the value if this watch as I won it for $2,350. Any constructive comments welcome.
One thing I didn't like is, it said that the hour hand could not be verified due to time constraints but the movement is operational. I said to them how can you not verify if the hour hand works yet you're supposed to be a reputable auction house. He gave me some song and dance about how many people they had working for them how long it would take to verify if the hour hand worked blah blah blah. My feeling is they should if they're putting it up for auction test not only the minute hand but make sure the hour hand also works. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk |

why bid if you didnt like the watch , then ,, why ask for an opinion afterwards.
this seems to happen a lot ,,,, if your not happy , dont bid. not trying to be harsh , but if your buying at auction , what you see is what you bid on , and its what you get. |

Yes, I agree. If they verify the watch works then there's no issue. What are they gonna do sue me from the UK? How can you sell watches without verifying if the hour markers work and then they give the excuse they can't do it due to time constraints. What a bunch of b*******.

I bought a Brietling through Fellows just over a year ago, it had the same statement. But everything was fine.
I hope when you receive it you are pleased with your purchase. |

They state with every watch in their catalogue that hour hands not checked due to time restraints don't understand why as it's not like they have to sit there for hours on end watching every watch they're selling :dummy. Anyway fellows are a very reputable auction house here in the U.K based in Birmingham jewellery quarter and I think also in London

It's only the chronographs they'd have to check for an hour so how hard could it be to give them a wind, push a button, and come back an hour later and check!
According to their auction catalogue there were 64 chrono's Probably 2 hours total time max! |

If you are not willing to abide by there description, you should not be bidding on the watch.
Every other person that bid on the watch had the same description and understood that the hour hand had not been tested and I would assume they made their bids accordingly. You want the discount that the description allows with out the possible consequences. Now that you won the auction, you are trying to re-write the rules. If it was my auction, I would ask you not to do business with me again. Last edited by MILGAUSS88; 4 February 2018 at 02:35 AM.. Reason: ...... |
