Username hacked!
Someone is posting a Rolex blnr for sale under my username. What should I do? Something is not right and I certainly do not want anyone to get scammed.

Thought something was a little off on the post for sale as the price was too good to be true. Glad they moved the post.

Don’t use the same password you have used on other forums, or anywhere for that matter. And be very wary of any links you click.

Oh these guys aren't playing around anymore... I for one am tickled pink that they are spot checking posts on here more and more. I am a daily user and it's rare if I don't look at the what's for sale section. (over and over again) The mods have been doing spot checks more and more and this is a large part on what makes our community so strong. |

Waterman1 - Real
I am back on, have changed my password, and our moderator tells me I should be secure as long as I changed the pw. Thought I would share how it happened; I am selling a Panerai. Received what appeared to be legitimate inquiry wanting photos and had a few questions. A few days later they responded saying they had narrowed it down to mine and this other one...and they sent a link to the other watch. Without thinking, and out of curiosity I clicked the link. Dumb move.
Anyway, be careful and don’t get tricked like I did. Do not open any links someone sends. Thanks to quick action by our moderator as he responded within minutes of me emailing of the incident. |

I simply clicked on the link he provided expecting a Panerai sales add to show up. Nothing happened when I clicked the link and I thought that was strange. I don’t know how this stuff happens exactly. I still don’t know how he got my username and was able to do this. I caught it by opening up the forums homepage and noticing I had 11 private messages but had not received any emails alerting me that I had a PM waiting. And so I opened my private messages and saw inquiries for a watch I was not selling. Honestly still freaked out and not sure how secure all of this is. It will make me much more cautious next time I buy or sell a watch using the forum. I hope by explaining what happened this helps others to avoid. I think it all comes down to the link the guy sent me.

We have said countless times NOT to use links from other people, in either PM’s or Emails, yet the scammers always find new blood to trick and fleece the unsuspecting. It’s a never ending cycle really, and just keeps the scammers trying. We could have a big flashing colorful banner on the main page warning members, and this would still continue to happen unfortunately.... Just the other week we had a member who decided to wire thousands of dollars to someone they didn’t know, and even after they saw and acknowledged the member they were dealing with, account was banned by us?! Really? STOP CLICKING ON LINKS & SIGNING IN PEOPLE!
