My father bought this seamaster in 1990, had it on the wrist till to unwearable (see the lugs), then forgot in the basement for a long time. I know nothing about Omega, would like to know more about it, and wondering is it repairable? or worth to do so? If the repair cost won't be skyhigh, I would choose to have it restored. Thanks!

Anything is repairable but the cost would probably be more than the watch is worth. Most older seamasters aren’t very desirable unless it’s a chronograph.

If the watch has sentimental value and you want to keep it then I recommend you get it to a competent watchmaker and see if the movement has been affected by the water in the case.

Had a watchmaker checked it out. Movement is ok, need service, couple hunderds bucks take care of it. But have a hard time finding the case.

Is it an automatic (self winding) or quartz?

Automatic, ETA 2836-2

Not much value, but depends on case costs, I may choose to have it restored, if I can find one... 200~300 hunderds to service the movement is ok.

ETA makes a good movement. Also, the watch is your father's.

Given the condensation, scratches, old band condition, etc., my guess (having been thru this drill) an authorized Omega dealer will charge $600-700 minimum for a good quality overhaul. You can take into an AD and get a quote. A local vintage repair shop less, much less. But, the quality will be questionable. I'd look on eBay at comparable watches to see what people sold them for, not trying to sell them for. That will give you an idea what you will end up with.

I'd think about it for a while before you pull the trigger. I've lost several thousand dollars over the past several years jumping too quick on watches. Good luck!

Looks like I will have to give up the idea to have it overhualed, money wise. A new case alone costs $800, lol... I think a watch like this in good condition would worth around $500?
