JLC Reverso Grande date
Can anyone shed any light as to the quality and finish of this particular model?
I am thinking of purchasing this as a dress watch to compliment my Explorer ii polar. |

It's outdated by today's standard. The newer Reverso has curved lugs and much better finishing.

Quality and finish: excellent in any regard. I am sure you will appreciate the guilloche dial - a very classical reverso in this respect.
Technically, the 8 - day movements of JLC are quite amazing as for the excellent isochronism well over 7 days. I suggest you try in on your wrist - reversos can feel strange in general; and the line of reversos with an 8-day power reserve sports rather thick case compared to the current models. |

Used to have one but sold it. Reason being way too thick for a reverso.
But quality and finish is excellent. Winds like butter. |

I love my - one of the last watches I would ever sell. It has also been one of my most accurate watches to date usually about 2s/day. I have never felt it was too thick, but I have a larger wrist at 7.5" It has not trouble fitting under just about everything but the tightest of shirt cuffs. The art-deco design has a timeless classic look. The 8 day reserve is nice and gives me a nice option for rotation because it is ready any time and only needs winding once a week. The other think I like about it is it seems to look great with a variety of straps; black croc for more formal, cognac ostrich for more casual and a blue sharkskin for something more fun . . . then being able to flip it and enjoy the movement on the backside . . . it is just a beautiful, elegant, and fun watch to own.
