You made the right choice. No comparison between the AP and Vacheron bracelet.

Yeah, maybe an acquired taste. I really want to like the design, but it looks too fussy, especially with that textured dial, and overall it's too big and chunky.

I totally understand that I'm in the minority. There's got to be a reason guys love APs so much.

Design is purely subjective and credit to AP, VC with it's heavy MC motif, and PP for not producing bog-standard round shaped sports watches like Rolex and all the others. Either you like them or don't, you can't force it.

How about both.

Get both.

Am currently considering either of these 2 pieces: AP RO 15400 steel in silver, or the 3rd gen VC 4500v in blue (date only). I have a 6.5 flat wrist so either one does not look oversized. I have tried both. Price is about the same new.

Currently, I have a PAM104, Sea Dweller from 2007 (do not know the series), Pepsi GMT II (2004 i think) and the just released Santos de Cartier SS large.

Am impartial to both (leaning a tad bit more on the 15400) but thought I would check what you think about these two. Which one is more iconic? More versatile? Which one will be a better addition to my little collection (planning to let go of the 104). Which one will hold its value more? What about service/maintenance?

Thank you in advance!

Well, I don't have both, but I can tell you this VC Overseas is the most beautiful blue-dial watch on the planet, IMHO.
