116234 vs (potential) 126234
Dear TRF members, as you all know, Rolex announed on basel 2018 their new generation of DJ36 TT: the 126233.
My question is, when Rolex will probably unveil the new generation of SS (with fluted WG), the potential 126234, would you wait and buy that one or just but this year's 116234. The model in question is the SS fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet and silver dial. |

I'm considering to buy this year. It seems the changes should be minor. Crownclasp might become sought after.

I think in this case I'd prefer the newest model.

As a current version jubilee DJ36 I the only reason that I would understand the for removing the hidden clasp is to make it as a premium deature to upsell to DD, it is a really nice feature and in my case was a key reson to chose DJ36 over DJ41.
If I have to chose the new movement vs hidden clasp I would chose hidden clasp, nevertheless increased power reserve is a great adition for people like me rotating watches. |

Even with the easy link feature? Not to mention that the newer model (with the easy link) will look more like the classic DJ which was not with a hidden clasp. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have an Exp too that has it and I really do not see the real use of the easy link yet, I live in a tropical country with a mix of freezing air conditioning buildings and a hot humid outside and I have never had the need for it.

I sometimes need it. I even need the excellent glidelock of my 114060. You don’t even need to adjust the watch when you buy it; it extends and retracts as much as you need it to.

The 70 hours power reserve of the new movement is great, no question on that. But it can be worked around by a manual winding on Saturday, or just let it stop during the weekend. The hidden clasp is a more important feature to me. |

No guarantee the new movement will be used. Whether the enhancement is worth to wait, it depends on individual. The accuracy of the current model is +/-2 sec / day, which is same as the new movement. The power reserve is not important for me as I swap wearing watches every week. If the enhancements are so important, then nobody will buy the old models.

It was used on Basel 2018’s TT version of the DJ36. So we’re 99.99% sure that they’ll use it on the SS version next year (if not earlier). Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apologies if I misunderstand, but I believe the new Datejust 36 does have a concealed Crownclasp on the Jubilee bracelet. If you look up one of the new models on the website, there is a photo in the downloadable brochure. Sorry, I can't post the link.
The best feature of the new Datejusts is the concealed attachment of the bracelet and case. It looks very, very nice with the Jubilee. Also, the slight adjustment to the lugs does make a surprisingly big difference to the overall sleekness of the silhouette. The only reason to choose the 116234 might be if you find the slight rotor noise of the 3235 annoying. Otherwise, I definitely vote for waiting for the (likely) 2019 release of the 126234. |

Love my 116234, I have both a super jubilee and an oyster bracelet, it’s a great watch.
