Hi, yes Dad gives lots of love...
This Yacht Master was his fav watch and he's got since 2000.
One of the first in this region..
Must be a great sacrifice for him..
Then again,, givinhg to me, his only child, hmnn speaks alot isn't it.

Note: Watch has yet to size to my tiny hands..
Also many scratches on watch. Don't know how to remove..

As for the scratches, you should be careful about getting the right person to remove those as an inexperienced person buffing your watch case could cause damage to the intended lines and profile of your watch case.

Watch polishing is an art. A skilled watchmaker in Rolex repairs will make it look like new. Maybe the safest bet would be to take it to Rolex Singapore, they will most likely help you out. If the watch is a 2000 model, then maybe it would benefit from a service (if it has not had one before) as 8 years is about the right time for a watch movement getting an oil change and tune up.

Does this one have a triplok cos the crown looks a bit smaller than the 'full size' models I have seen?

A general servicing of your YM should be about $600.00 typically. It could be more or less depending on what needs to be done. It will come back to you looking new and will be worth every penny.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the scratches. They will only come back so hold off if you can. Just give it a good soapy bath with a very soft brush and I will bet it will sparkle after you are finished. Only get the service done when the movement needs it.

Heheheh! Again, I would just give it a nice, warm, soapy bath. Make sure the crown is screwed in tightly and I think it will clean right up. If you use a brush, make sure you use something very soft and don't scrub too hard.

That is a lovely Christmas present and if it were me, I would just wear it like it is after the bath. Then send it in once you need servicing on the movement (like if it begins to lose or gain time noticeably).

I think Richard might have overestimated the servicing cost somewhat. I got my Datejust fully serviced at Singapore RSC at the beginning of the year, and it cost me about S$400.
