Please help - Is it a real explorer 1016?
I am new to the world of vintage Rolex, and now planning to buy a 1016 as an entry. I read a lot of articles and compared it with photos of other 1016 from the same era, but still can't verify. Can you please help authenticate?
eBay item number:153372355864 Thank you! |

Dial looks relumed
2nd the most important part of the movement is covered, so no way to 100% confirm Request clear photo of balance wheel A

Thanks Adam. The seller said the lumes don't glow anymore, but still it could have been relumed before? Am requesting the photo of balance wheel. Thanks again!

But the lume looks to me highly suspicious of repainting - but back a while like 80s Balance wheel will confirm movement EDIT I studied again closely - dial "may" be original but not the hands. They are not matching. So I think dial has a 80% chance of being original, but hands are not Regards

What does seeing the balance have to do with anything. It’s not like there are clone 15XX movements.
The Trit does look weird and the hands do look a little flat. |

Agree with Gladiator's assumption that hands are not original to this set up. Actually, this watch could just a plethora of parts..
