Trying to source a SBGW253

Any ideas on where to find one, but not at an absurd markup?

Try Timeless Luxury Watches in Frisco. I tried one on last Friday (in their store) that looked suspiciously like that.

It's in my third picture from my visit:

Keep an eye out from the usual trusted sellers here. Not too long ago 2 came up almost simulteanously....one from Thanh (takuya) and another from Chase (Nashville Watches/Au_911tt). I picked up one and kinda hinted to this subforum that Chase had one still and it hung around for a couple days. Just gotta keep your eyes open.

Yeah, I noticed that myself on WatchRecon...I totally missed the boat on this! I really wasn't interested in Grand Seiko until about a week ago and have done pretty intensive research since then. Lo and behold, I was a week or so too late with Chase and Takuya selling the model very recently.

Congrats on your pick up though, and let me know if you're ever willing to sell!

That specific watch that you're alluding to is the SBGW231, another watch that seemed to be in play for me. However, the fact that the SBGW253 is a limited release kind of puts it over the edge for me. Also, I just love the old school 'Grand Seiko' on the 253 without the GS logo.

You could always go for the original: https://thegrandseikoguy.com/movement/3180/

Appreciate that, but these are even further out of the price range for me. I also like the size of the re-edition.
