It looks fine if TT is your thing.
The question is why? Who will this appeal to? To quote myself (the mark of a true narcissist) it's like painting go-faster stripes on a tractor. And charging loads more for it.

I have always been the biggest SD fan. Loved having to explain to people that it wasn't a fake Sub (missing cyclops), then they took that away.
Now they add a bit of gold... Why not go all Platinum or even all gold? So disappointed. Feel like that kid on an old youtube video that opens a Christmas gift to find an X-Box box filled with clothes.

This is the one that really pushed me over the edge in thinking that the RPR leak was fake -- I can't believe they'd make this. Gross. The good news is that I can't imagine this will be overly hard to get.

Very nice option to those that like TT watches, very nice.
I have shown the photo to several non-WIS people and they all say: beautiful watch!, so I do not believe the opinions of the vintage Rolex Fan affect the sales. This seems to indicate that the SS version of the SD43 has been a success in sales and want to get more juice to such a beautiful model, for me the most beautiful on the diver market. Rolex found it hard to sell the previous SD, poor for sale all, and of course it would have been crazy to make them more expensive even with a TT version, this indicates what I have repeated, the first successful SD in sales has been the SD43. By adding the cyclops, increase the size and create perfect proportions made it HOT for the public, Rolex laughs of those who think that it should not have cyclops or should be 40mm, saying I sold it to you for 50 years and most of you did not buy it, now I sell this 43mm like hot bread. |

It will appeal to some I suppose.
Personally, I had hoped that Rolex would stick to its knitting with certain models like the SD and keep them in SS. It just makes it less “tool like” to see it offered in TT. If they add a TT Submariner I’ll be equally disappointed. |

I totally can't get down with it but, I work in NJ a lot and every other dude has a TT Sub on so I'm guessing this will go ever well in certain regions of the country and world for that matter.
To each their own as they say aye? But yea...barf. |

Why is this a big deal? The SD43 is just a larger sub now. So I halfway expected to start seeing it in some of the same options as the 40mm sub. Not everyone wants a 40mm watch. It is small for some people.

I'm not surprised, honestly, because:
1) Let's face the truth, Rolex is a jewelry company, not the "tool watch" company of the old days. Anyone who still believes that is turning a blind eye. 2) The general population that do wear watches (and are not WIS) still wear larger watches, so the 43mm most certainly has an appeal in that regard. 3) Imagine the guy who has done well for himself and wants to reward himself with a Rolex. Doesn't know watches. Goes in, wants something gold and beefier than a standard 40mm Submariner (because 40mm is small for some people) = TT SD43. I feel like it's not so much about the heritage anymore as it is just pure aesthetics. Non-WIS could care less that the SD has always been THE tool watch. It's bigger, it's got gold, it's a Rolex. |

The final nail in the coffin for the SD. Hey maybe Rolex will ruin the explorer line next! Why couldn’t they leave the SD alone, it was amazing as 116600!!!

I wonder how heavy it will be? Stainless Sea-Dweller is pretty heavy, I imagine replacing center links with gold will add substantial weight.

The introduction of this TT might means Rolex will reduce the production of SS SD43 to push this higher profit TT SD43
