www.watchfinder.co.uk

I purchased a Rolex 16613 from them a few days ago and they clearly advertised the Watch with Box, papers and a service.

When the watch arrived it had no papers and the response given to me when contacted was " How do you expect an old watch to have papers?"

As soon as I got the watch on my wrist I noticed that the seconds hand was moving but there was no subsequent movement of the Hours and Seconds hands. I took the watch to the Service Centre in Mumbai and they informed me that the oils were dry and that the movement needed urgent service, else the watch would seize.

Despite the fact that they had misrepresented the paperwork, I was willing to be satisfied with the watch if they reimbursed me the service amount that was payable to the RSC.

They accused me of lying about the watch having problems and asked that the watch be returned to them, but that was not feasible because I am in India and they are in the UK. They also said that I had devalidated the Watchfinder warranty because someone from Rolex had touched the watch! I offered to send them the paperwork that the Service centre would provide me to prove that the watch indeed had problems, but they accused me of having "Contacts" in the service centre.

All communication with them is in writing ( email) and I would be happy to provide any member with the same on request.

Bottomline: Be vary of buying from them because their products are not as represented and their customer service and level of courtesy towards a customer is extremly poor.

Ouch, Suhail! I'm sorry to hear about your problems, especially since you sounded pretty pleased with your purchase just a few days ago.

Okay, guys, you heard the man - be wary when dealing with this mob!

I think it might be an inconvenience to send it back but if it was stated to have papers I would want papers.

I also would demand a full refund and buy elseware as this type of service sucks.

It really comes back down to them not being an Authorised Dealer of most brands and it is a comment I have heard before of their service.

Good luck

Suhail, I'm just wondering if it would be worth your time to report these guys to the UK's consumer affairs bureau. Do you have a copy of the ad on disk?

So sorry Suhail to hear about your problem, but its very unusual myself bought a few watches from them a few years ago.And John the owner was very helpful, and a very nice lady called Dee,soon sorted a little problem for me.And I had a few repairs done to some vintage watches a bit slow in getting them back but excellent work.I would try if you have not already done so to speak directly to John or Dee,hope they sort it out for you.Like you say you are in India get it serviced and try and recover your costs. They have a on-line guest book and I think a forum, they used to be called swiss watch co.If no joy with your problem, you could leave some feedback in guest book and forum, hope you can settle this problem amicably, please lets us know what happens.

Sorry to hear about your plight, Suhail. At least be consoled in the fact that the bloody watch turned out to be genuine, if not anything else. I'm sure the Rolex AD in Bombay can get it all going.

Congrats, by the way, on probably the ultimate TT Rolex!!

Sorry to hear about your problems, Suhail. That's a real bummer and certainly puts a damper on your purchase.

Did you pay by credit card? Is so, you may be able to dispute the charge with your credit card company. If that works, the credit card company can probably put pressure on them to set things right.

Good luck and keep us posted on what transpires with this mess.

Well, They had promised me a cheque for the amount of ther service, but that didnt come in despite their promise and numberous emails from my side.

Clearly a dealer that doesnt not understand business ethics.

Bad guys. So please stay away.
