My gut feeling is it's a fake. You can clearly see the Rolex etching at 6PM and the crown guards look oversized and sloppy. I'd have to have better pictures or hold it in my hands.

Is there an o-ring when you pull out the crown and which direction does it need to go to advance the time. Should be clockwise to advance. Most fakes go counter-clockwise. Also check the clicks on the bezel. Is it tight / quiet or really loose and loud?

Don't be fooled by boxes and papers. They can be fake as well.

It looks a bit beaten up to be new. And the crown etching is much too readily visible. I would be leary of it, unless you know the seller personally and he's got a straight up reputation.

The fonts look wrong too. Look at the B in SUBMARINER. Compare to a real one and you'll see a difference.

Pass on it. I wonder about the font, the bezel insert, the bracelet (Both wrong reference and it's an sel), crystal etc....

I say it's a fake. I can't put my finger on it, but it just doesn't look right.

I would say let this one pass. Is it on eBay or the like?

Anyways, i have a question...the etching at 6o'clock...is that on the glass? And is it ingraved and is it suppose to be light..like almost not visable?

interesting. How about the bracelet...where the case meets. is that right?

hey rockrolex ..thanks for the input...the guy says its lint not scratches.

That really looks like an SEL bracelet. No 14060 or 14060M should have one. I just got a 14060M a couple of months ago and no SEL. I don't know about that one Even though it's a good close, the crown etching appears way too pronounced. I have to use a 10x loupe to see mine. Also, check the bezel rotation. Alot of fakes go around one full cycle with only sixty clicks, whereas a real Rolex Submariners bezel clicks once every half second mark. So it takes 120 clicks to go all the way around.

Yes and there should also be open lug holes on the outside of the case like on Mikes above

I am by no means an expert but what I do know is due to the fact I own a new non-date sub. First off the bracelet does look like an sel, and as mentioned that watch should not have one. The box and certificate look nothing like mine and I have to say they scream "hold on to your wallet and run!" That being said, take the watch to an AD and let them have a look. Good luck.

Run

There are too many good deals out there on real watches to chance it.

Belive me I know 1st hand what it's like to drop $5500 on a watch with fake parts/pcs ;) Been there done that.

It's not worth $500-1000 savings to get a FAKE!!! Trust me.

I'd drop the extra coin for pc of mind.

See if the guy will allow you to take it to an AD for verification. If not bail.

IMHO ;)

It's an old box, like mine from 10 years ago, sel's not right, should not have them. Hour markers look odd. You have been warned by everyone.

You know, if everyone just did the right thing and bought from a reputable dealer, we would not have to play Rolex detective every week. IF you are trying to save thousands, YOU WILL GET SCREWED. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY SAVED UP TO DO THE RIGHT THING, KEEP SAVING. If you have the money, but can't bear to pay retail like most of us did, go to Tourneau, go to Grey and sons, or Alan Firman, and buy used with a warranty. All three companies warranty their watches, recondition them to perfect, as new condition. I personally vouch for all three.

And, if you buy this thing, NO NOT COME CRYING TO US. You won't right??

Good luck, David

The bracelet has been completely bastardised. Positively an SEL in your picture - which does NOT come with the ND Sub - and the number of the original non-SEL bracelet should be 93150 - not any of the other two numbers.

The clasp is long and seems to have 8 holes like the Sub clasp, but the rest just does not match up. The watch too looks very shady....let this one go down the drain!!

Cheers - JJ

This is a picture of a non-SEL bracelet. Note the butterfly wings extending from the end link. The SEL bracelet does NOT have these extensions.

the papers are a dead giveaway in themselves. first off, 16233 is a TT DJ with gold bezel. secondly, i've never seen Rolex papers shine like those. I realize the camera may have had a flash, but they almost look laminated.

Stay away!
