Welcome to the other side. Sounds like a similar story to me. Many Rolex over the years but now just down to two which are in the safe deposit. Now days I only wear and plan/obsess over Panerai.
Somehow Panerai has more passion and soul - the watches and the people. Maybe it'll wear off but maybe not. Congratulations and I look forward to following the updates over time. |

Congratulations! My story sounds a little like yours. I was a Rolex fan boy for several years and then something just clicked in my brain that made me realize that there are some damn fine timepieces outside of the Rolex bubble. I’ve completely flipped my watch philosophy from just Rolex to many different brands. Grand Seiko , Zenith, Panerai, Seiko,Girard Perregaux etc... and the most awesome part of branching out??? There’s a chance you can actually obtain pieces!!!

I do believe the laureato was designed by someone other than Genta but it doesn’t make it any less awesome. I own two of them. I love them both. Get one you’ll love it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You are absolutly right! https://www.thehourglass.com/new-wat...oraries-1970s/ " Where does the Laureato come in? Surprisingly, right in the first chapter of this story. The Laureato was, at its inception, an alternative to the Royal Oak, and despite the similarities in their play with shapes was not a work of Genta. Instead, it was the result of Girard-Perregaux’s own efforts, and made its debut in 1975, a year before IWC and Patek Philippe introduced their own takes on the category. The task of designing the original Laureato fell to an architect in Milan, whose identity Girard-Perregaux is reticent about communicating today. His goal was to create a watch that could be worn in all settings given a sporty yet discreet aesthetic, which was characterised by the primary design element of the bezel, as well as a seamless integration of case and bracelet. " Beautiful watches! wear them in good health |

Wow, that's a really nice looking watch. You don't see many gold PAMs, but with the black bezel that looks awesome!

I bought my first rolex 2 months ago. A long awaited 43mm sea dweller. I looked at it beside my tudor pelagos and my P 364 and it just wasnt doing it for me. Shiny , blingy but insane quality tho. I sold it , traded my 364 for the better fitting 1305. What can yu do...

If you mean the tread I replied to when someone said they were looking specifically for a Pam 688 or 689, then yes. But I wasn’t ‘listing’ it for sale on just random threads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've seen one of these in the flesh, absolutely lovely. I might have to just slum it with the stainless 682. |
