Possibility of an in-house chrono movement?

I was looking through the history of all AP RO Chrono's and they've all been using the same caliber 2385 off the FP 1185. As from other threads, I'm interested in buying the latest blue dial 26331st.

Any chance of me being the unfortunate cookie and buying up the last of this movement before they upgrade to an in-house soon? Sort of like the VC Overseas Chrono where they have been updated to the 5200. From other threads, I have read how the price has gone up significantly, this is not a monetary issue, but more like wanting to pick up an in-house AP chrono movement if there's a mere outlook of this possibility instead.

It’s happening we just don’t know when. Might keep the movement in the code line for a bit to push sales (if possible).

The Code chrono has the new in-house 4401, but the new 38mm AP RO chrono also released this year is still using the 2385. Would be odd I think if they released a new RO chrono with in-house movement just a year after the 38mm release

I think the caliber 4401 was designed for a 41mm case? So maybe AP intends to use it in the 41mm ROC and leave the 2385 in the 38mm ROC. Just speculation. AP did something similar in the ROO model line up, i.e. the 37mm ROO has the 2385 and the larger ROOs have the 3126/3840.

Now the Code release is done, think next year is very likely.

These are also some thoughts that have come to mind just now. I’d be crying to get the current 2385 one just to find out that they’ll put on the 4401 in 2020 with a display caseback

Is the inhouse chrono movement thicker? The f piguet is a proven workhorse. Mine is +/-2 per day

Not sure AP will bother, the ROCs are selling well as-is. And it would chunk it up, the in-house is indeed thicker (6.8mm, the 2385 is 5.5mm). Maybe they'll work on slimming that down for a future ROC update.

If the in-house over 1mm thicker than I don’t think AP will use that movement for the ROC until they can thin it down. Most RO’s have been relativity thin and making a 13mm thick ROC would be approaching ROO territory.

I have my doubts the 4401 will end up being as good a movement as the F Piguet. We shall see.
