Read through this whole thread last night. Wow! What a watch and what a wealth of knowledge being shared.
OP, I look forward to your update and hope you get positive news from Rolex soon!

I am planning to do a side trip to Geneva on my way to London this end of October. I am hoping that the Heritage dept. would have some information already about my watch. Its been 16 months.

Just to inform everyone that i will be in Geneva on October 31 and will go to the Rolex Heritage dept. the next day to inquire about my watch. I am hoping that they will have a result already of the inspection and evaluation.

Flying now to Geneva via Qatar Airways. Usjng my Rolex 6542 GMT with red writing. This is the same watch i brought to the Heritage Dept. last 2018. By the time they finished evaluating the watch it was already the start of the pandemic and was only able to get the watch back in 2021.

Eric, did you have to make an appointment to visit the HQ or can you simply show up? I’d just hate to think that they wouldn’t receive you.
Best of luck!

I personally am not expecting much given this is just a drop in. Rolex has not said anything yet, nor as far as we know, started or completed their analysis. That said, I do hope they have a progress report for you Eric. Good luck and safe travels.

I finally spoke with a representative from the heritage dept who assured me that my watch is being cared for in their workshop. She also informed me that due to the unique nature of my dial, they had to follow a specific protocol in the inspection and evaluation of the watch. They expect to finish everything and come up with a report by the 1st quarter of 2024.

Sounds promising. Think you can start looking for a 250 GTO to do a straight swap with when it gets back

Well that’s encouraging if it means they haven’t come across a red flag thus far. With Rolex, one wrong thing with a dial, and it’s refused.

Wow. That sounds pretty positive! My guess is that it will be longer than Q1 next year.

Wait, so after 3 years in this thread, are we getting string along? I’m still hanging on because I have nothing else to do.

5 years is a mighty long wait. I am still hopeful that they will finish the evaluation of my watch by the first quarter of next year as committed during my last visit.

A belated happy anniversary for your GMT and the Restoration Atelier.
Look forward to their “separation” after restoration. The ironic aspect is that once you have it back, at least from outward appearances, it will look the same as it left your home. But you will have the satisfaction of knowing it’s in perfect internal working order with a pedigree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
