I think this is awesome. I never really cared for the Explorer II but this is one I will eventually own!

I love the fact that Rolex is finally making man sized watches. Love the new Explorer 2. For everyone crying about the size maybe you should go back to the 32MM swatch.

The 40mm size is plenty big already....too big and they start to look kind of stupid. I myself do not really like the new supercase with the EXPII; the lugs are too big.

What?

The new Explorer II doesn't have a 'supercase' like the GMT IIC and Sub C have... and the lugs are perfectly proportioned

I can't believe that I think I like this new version even better than the vintage orange-hands. And I just love the orange writing on the dial.

I am very excited about this watch. Definitely polar version for me. Its interesting how definitive everyone is about either the white or black face. (Much like cilantro, people either love it or hate it, no in between) I think the white really allows the hands to jump out and gives excellent visibility and orange is one of my favorite colors.
I just got off the phone with Rolex USA in New York, they said that the watch is not in production yet and they anticipate it hitting the US AD's at end of September. tick, tick, tick....

New Explorer II 42mm

Does anybody have any info about when this model would be available @ the ADs?

As to size, I've worn mine for a couple weeks now, and you really don't notice it's larger until you go back and forth between watches. You notice that the sub is a bit smaller, but the next day it looks "normal" like the new Explorer does after you've worn it a few hours.

Its honestly not too big, I have a big wrist and it looks great, you really get used to it, they really havn't jumped on the bandwagon with this one, not when Omega has made there Planet Ocean a 45mm now! haha

My father has a deepsea, and that one I find much too big. i borrow it from time to time but I have to take it off to type and write.

This is my first Rolex and the man-size 42mm was a big factor in me making this purchase. My only other watch is a Pam177 44mm so it still seems quite small!!

Working towards this with a black face. I also like the black rubber B strap as well. Not sure why though. anyway, its a while away yet.

I think I prefer the red on my current 16570 Exp II.

However, I am all for the new movement & upgraded bracelet.

Not sure yet about 42 mm and no triplock crown.

I wish Rolex would talk to me first before redesigning their watches
Not a fan of the orange hand or the Explorer II in orange
I have the 16550 Black Dial and like the red hand and the way it looks against the black dial and prefer the Explorer II in white lettering as well.
Not a fan of the larger case but really like the updated bracelet and clasp a lot.

Can you find a 40 mm w/out lug holes?
