The funny thing about the watch hobby is that sometimes what looks like an unacceptable error in photo/video looks completely fine in person. Yes, the new clasp is larger, but more importantly it feels just fine (at least for me). What I really care about is the actual length of the clasp, not just the exterior cover but the entire folding mechanism. I compared the clasp on my 126610LV to my BB58 and the actual length is the same! Aesthetically it looks just fine, IMO, once you stop comparing it to other models.

As mentioned, the clasp is the same length but 1mm wider. Sure, it's weirdly long, but serves a purpose and the overall proportions of the "41mm" are excellent. 2 thumbs way up there.

The large clasp is also a desk diver’s nightmare. It scratches just by looking at it.

I remember thinking the clasp for the 116610 was huge when I first tried it on

I was a bit bummed when I found out the new sub came out only after a few months after purchasing my 116610ln. Then I put them together side by side and tried them both on. The new sub definitely wears bigger on my 6.75 inch wrist. Both the dial / bezel and clasp have much more wrist presence and just feels a bit too big for my wrist. The clasp looks for the 116610ln looks a little big on my wrist but the new clasp looks HUGE. No regrets on my 116610ln. The new power reserve is nice but my 3135 movement is crazy accurate. After doing some tests I gain like 1 second every 2 weeks if the watch is fully wound.

Sub 41 is perfect in proportions and clasp is balancing the case better than 11 series. Is it big, yes, is it uncomfortable, no. I prefer easy link to glide lock, but if you are buying a dive watch, then it is natural to have more extension capability.
My favourite case and clasp hasn’t been made yet, 41mm case with easylink double safety clasp. Fingers crossed for the GMT size increase. |
