haha, ok man.

GGMT - looks like we missed the bottom.

That's just fair - if you own certain watches long enough, their values will rise.

Wrong. “All of them [references] have been rising steadily” is flat out false. Not even close.

Stop typing without adding value. Tell us the platform, price, condition of which watches you sold.

Thread needs some pics. Threw the LV in the safe and saw this twinkling beauty in need of wrist time.

The same way the market was inflated too much rapidly it also got way oversold rapidly. As I said ad nauseam......these watches aren't any easy to get. They'll go back up because of that. Then china who paid the majority of the inflated prices has been coming back up to par little by little.

Again it won't probably go back to 3-5x MSRP, but it isn't going below. The hard to get stuff will still sell for large premiums while the easy to get stuff will be MSRP or below.

Now to add to it inflation is finally coming back down. If it continues to go down and stabilizes the stock market will rise finally. Then crypto will rise back up, and then people will start buying again. It's all cycles. It won't go up forever and it won't go back down. Well maybe over the long run it'll go up forever otherwise that would mean the world is ending....

If that new white dial panda goes for that or lower I may pull the trigger on my first Vacheron. Not a bad price at all for that watch.

I live in your mind rent free and love it! Keep quoting me :)

While you quote me, I quote prices and even debunked your “all watches on Moda are busted” myth. You’re on juice and are sidestepping my question.

Still waiting on proof from you.

Congrats. Wearing mine today. Bought at retail a couple of years ago (no relationship, and I actually didn't even ask for the blue if I recall...).

On topic here... while it would have been great to sell the 4500v at the peak, buy one back again now, use the extra money for something else etc. in reality I'm more than happy buying watches I like, at a price I like, and wearing them. I am of course cost conscious but don't speculate on watches in any way. I would be happy to go back to a time when watches could be had at list price and sold on secondary for 20-30% off. At least people could get what they liked and had an idea what they could sell for if they wanted to change. WIS very often like to switch the collection up :)

Those who have sold watches very recently (I have) or bought watches very recently (I have done that too), may attest to what is going on, and the prices are definitely back on the rise.

I was lucky enough to buy a few very expensive watches at the lows, and I guarantee I could sell them for more a mere couple to few months later. I was offered a pre-owned 116506 Platina mint full set for 81K in December, and I didn't act fast enough and it was sold to someone else. I don't see any 116506 for that price today anywhere. No, this isn't as low as September 2020 prices, but close! Which is why I say that December 2022, was pretty much the bottom.

I am a watch collector, not a dealer.

As far as For Sale, if you look at just for example platinum day dates, Hulks, cerachrom Daytonas, at Moda, I don't see any of those real lows that we saw around December. All this reminds of that things don't always work out the way people might think - the theory was that post December holidays, no one was going to buy. Well, surprise!

Anyway, don't take my word for it. Try to sell or buy something actually, and see for yourself.

That would be awesome. I'm tempted to grab a blue 5500V at retail right now. That watch has a hell of a wait at the boutique.

As you mentioned above that 116509 (WG Daytona) full set at $81k last December. I think that was way overpriced. You should be able to find it at a lot cheaper price now.

That was a typo. 116506 Platina. 81K. December 2022.

The 116506 asking prices seem to all be around a hundred K again now.

September 2020, a Platina was available pre-owned right around MSRP 75K.

Pretty much all Rolex are still up significantly since then. Even the DJ41.

Platona is still way up there but other high flyers like the John Mayer have come back to Earth from $170,000

Agreed! My fiance even commented how nice it looked when I showed her and she has zero interest in watches. So that’s a big deal lol!

Yea. I never cared at all for Vacheron. But they did the white dial panda I think better than AP or Rolex. That to me is the one to have.

LOL.

The grip the greys have on the forum is very unfortunate. The market will do what it does no matter who gets banned.

Anybody have a 228239 market update. I was shocked to see that these are running higher than their gold counterparts. At least according to watch charts.

You guys have inspired me to check out my local VC boutique. I was never the biggest fan, but I have also never handled one in person. I do love the blue dial and fact they come on 3 straps - I love the blue rubber.

Awesome! You have to handle it to appreciate it. Please wear a Rolex when you go for a side by side.

What do you think the biggest difference would be between the two? Obviously I expect much higher level of finishing, etc. on the VC, but what about size/weight wise compared to say a Sub or GMT?

Definitely the finish and light play on the various textures VC uses. Compare the hands and lume plots vs Rolex.

4500V is similar to a sub or GMT in size. It feels a little more substantial to me but I haven't weighed them. 5500V Chrono is bigger, more like SD43 or planet ocean sized.

Check out the 4500V review that "you're terrific" did on YouTube. He holds a GMT next to the 4500. It gets noticed in the comments.

Awesome, thanks! appreciate the info and suggestion! I'll go watch that today and try to get into the Chicago boutique this weekend. I've walked by a thousand times and always see the SAs sitting on their phones - hopefully they're friendly. Also nice to hear how the 5500V wears - I like larger pieces.

Finish above AP in many cases. Geneve seal has actual meaning. Patek no longer does Geneve seal because, you know, they're just that good, not to pocket the cost
