Also, has anyone noticed that the number of auctions has dropped off significantly over the past month or so? Really feeds into the argument that there is a big bid ask spread, and dealers are trying to pump the market.
Are you referring to on Moda?

Interesting take on the market by an economist.

Yes

VC4500v black dial, fullset brand new factory sealed - sitting at $25k. VCs have dropped a ton.

I think there’s been a flight to Rolex during this correction, which has helped the resale of this brand a bit as opposed to AP, PP, and VC. (Similar to a flight to quality you see in real estate and other asset classes during a downturn)

How's the blue dial auction going? I saw it at 23.4 yesterday. Greys were literally trying to get $60-70k for this last year. I love mine, but come on!

Haha the delusion!! I haven’t been tracking that specific auction, and Facebook‘s search is so bad that it’s really hard to find. If anyone has a link, I can definitely keep an eye out.

Yep. Hoping for some more drop on VC because it's such a great watch that normally flies under the radar.

An interesting data point I found yesterday when browsing C24 was the precipitous drop of the 5168G-010 (aka Grenade). A controversial watch to many, but still one that has my eye -- it is now readily had in the $80-90k range instead of $120-130k of last year.

I don't know where you're getting your info from but just last week my SA told me AP has been ramping up production steadily from 40K, to over 55K last year and they're pushing past 60K this year.

Correct. I am still unclear as to where 911AP is getting his info from

Pepsis for 20k and up on this site….I would consider that a rise over 18k at its lowest….not hard to see honestly…….

Are there multiple trades (actual sales, not asks) at 20k, up from 18k? I don’t track sales on this forum so wouldn’t know.

About to close at 24.3. For something legitimately hard to source at boutique it's not a bad deal at all.

Beauty! I’m always skeptical of the MODA auctions. How is that about to go for 24.3k get today, a brand new fullset fully sealed is sitting at 25k?

Mint royal oak dial time with open papers (new gen bracelet) just went at auction for 27.5k.

Brand new fullset 26315 panda sold for 39.5k.

Royal oaks precipitous decline continues.

Much of this is the inverse of the run-up we saw back in 2017/2018. The current insanity started with Rolex, I guess that's where it will end.

Where does the group think the GMT meteorite lands? I spoke to one dealer that thinks it will continue to dip. On MODA I have seen them sell for around $52k. That is "only" $6k above retail after tax.

Very true. As you see in other asset classes (I’m in real estate and this is definitely true - first to rise last to fall)

Totally agree. It was the same with toilet rolls in the pandemic. The first ones back on the shelf were the recycled ones that don’t absorb anything and just move stuff around.

I have three Aquanauts (5167, 5164 and 5168). When not traveling, the 5168 (green) is my favorite by far. Looks great and the size works well on my 6 3/4" wrist. I like sport watches a bit on the larger size.

Waiting for the 16710 to drop to 7-8k. Dealers still think they’re worth 14-16k which is nuts

I agree and have a similar wrist size. Might have to start asking everyone I see with an aquanaut if their name is Frank

wow 24.3k? That's less than retail in the UK!

Still wonder why its so hard to get at the boutique... all the flippers should be dropping like flies now.

They don't make many of them. It's no submariner.

If you like the watch and agree with the price I would do it in the next few months. They get maybe 5 a year in our major city boutique.

Yeah, I’d jump on it if I was in the market for an overseas!

With prices dropping I really hope all the flippers go pound sand. If I can I am going to try and push for a blue overseas dual time after I get my Cornes de Vache. I don't know if VC goes by purchase history or what but last year when I asked they told me 8 years

I just sold mine to a dealer for 13.5, including 3 different inserts so the prices are still up there for great examples.
