For those with the 1815 Chrono and/or Datograph, what do you feel about the addition/subtraction of the panorama datum on these models?
I don't know what other differences there are from a mechanical perspective, but the removal of the date on the 1815 seems to be the primary difference, and on the reverse side, unless you are an expert, you almost can't tell the difference (I know there are significant differences, but both a similar enough to invoke the same kind of awe). |

On 10/24, Lange will announce 2 (currently undisclosed) watches. Both are Lange 1 released for the 30th anniversary of the brand. Both will be limited to 300 watches each and will be in the $50-70K price range.

After a year of searching for the right deal for my favorite reference, I finally picked it up. It’s everything I expected it to be and more. Extremely happy with the purchase and it will be with me for a long time. Such an incredibly well thought out and executed watch.
Pure art. Thanks to all that helped me in my journey! |

Big ALS fan but no pieces yet. Planning to buy at AD when I'm ready.
Anyone noticing the ALS market softening? I was in the Vegas ALS boutique ~2 weeks ago. Lovely experience. Have been there a few times before and usually just a very few pieces in stock. Was surprised to see every case totally full - 12 ALS pieces in stock and available (no ZWs or Datos), and a few in the back. Sure, I know 12 is a small number, but I think a large number for this very small boutique which is a "partner" boutique and not truly ALS. Seemed like a lot of stock to me and I wondered if this is a bellweather of things slowing for ALS and inventory creeping up. My question is this. I know generally it's "no discounts" at ALS Boutiques. But in the past before the current era didn't people get discounts in Boutiques? ~5-10% off maybe? And if there is enough pressure and things are slow enough for too long, and Boutique supplies creep up enough, might there not be a return to this? Case in point: was at a VC boutique recently and offered SS Overseas with black or white dial (not blue) at MSRP with ~2-3 month wait with zero spend history (my hunch was there are some in stock but they don't want to put in the case just yet). While not at a discount, this was pretty surprising since 1 year ago I don't even think you could be on a wait list for these without a spend history. |

Today pulled out of the safe for autumn days. First on alligator, then changed to suede strap.

From my experience, most Lange models are readily available. I think the only model that you need spend history with is the Odysseus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lovely shots and straps!
Quick one though, do ALS have precious metal spring bars? Or do you just use the spring bars that come with certain straps as well (Molequin quick release for example) ?

For the brown suede I used the original gold telescopics. The blue alligator strap is from Molequin with a quick change. They have thinner ends without an additional collar, so they float around a bit in the holes.

So here’s some food for thought: In the past there was a time for discounts at a boutique, now no more of course. The price hikes in recent years seems absolutely insane that the price of a timepiece always has to be considered. What about buying a Lange from a trusted seller here? I bought a Saxonia in perfect condition, only 3 years old, full box and papers for like almost 40% off current sticker. It came perfect essentially brand new. With the exception of Rolex and perhaps a few selected other brands (some Patek, AP RO), these luxury brands can be had at a “great deal”. Even a Patek Calatrava 6119 is selling for several k below list. I’ve considered a new Lange 1. That being said there is no way I would be willing to pay $44,700 usd plus tax which is like $48k. Getting a current model “lightly used” but in great condition for ~$31,000 is more palatable but still a ton. As much as I want a Lange 1 even I have to justify to myself if I would spend that much on a time piece. So is buying brand new from a Boutique worth paying 30-40% more when dealing with watches that are this expensive? It’s not the same as getting a Tudor for 3k and buying at boutique for 4k. Hello, I'm interested in the 1815 Chrono Boutique Edition.
Is this a piece that I can immediately put my name into the waiting list without spend history at the boutique? If it is not, what is the path to this (i.e. how many 3 handers do I have to get first)? Thank you. |
