I received the panda as a 5520v 210A B686 ref last week in Zurich.

Despite info online, was advised delivery of all the chronographs are now the thinner case and updated strap system.

The steel bracelet is notably thinner and feels more refined.

I was actually not concerned about 4500 vs 4520, they are basically the same … I was referring to new Chrono or DT vs old ones …
But I see what you say and you are right indeed: since the straps of 4500 model, which is much thinner than the 7900, fit it, then the different thickness of new vs old DT and Chrono may not be an issue, if the quick release are also interchangeable.

But the strap thickness alone would likely not be the issue. The 7900 was always thicker than the 4500 and it used the same straps and bracelet. So if the 4520 is approximately the same thickness as the 4500, the straps would most likely still all be the same thickness.

Greetings, I have a 7900V that is short a link. Are the 4500V links able to fit the 7900V? I see one for sell on ebay. If not, can anyone point me in the direction, of getting an extra 7900V link? my wrist are 7.3 inchs, and Im already using the easy extensions. Still tight. Thanks!

Hi all,

I have a quick question about the pin buckle on 4500V for the interchangeable straps. I just picked up the pink gold/blue dial combo and noticed it has just one pin buckle on the rubber but not the leather strap. Is it easy to remove and switch to the other strap or should I be considering the purchase of a separate pink gold pin buckle? Thanks.

You'll need to use a flat head screwdriver to detach the buckle from the strap and relocate it. Its easy. The buckle is $1900 or so.

Did you get it at a boutique?

As of October last year, it came with two gold pin buckles, one on the rubber and one on the calf.

When I've bought straps at the boutique, they come with the pin in the buckle. The price of the strap is itemised, so you can see the cost of the rubber/leather strap and the 'gold parts' broken down.

They have a new pin buckle system. It pops out in seconds, no tools needed.

I just purchased mine pre-owned, and it's from 2020 when it first was released. Sounds like I can either keep moving the pin buckle from one strap to the other but have to use a tool or just buy a second one.

2020 is the old system and a screw driver would be needed. If it were me I’d buy an extra buckle if you’re planning on changing straps frequently

Understood. Did the dealer state it was a complete set?

Last edited by arnage; 16 December 2023 at 09:50 PM.. Reason: woops - realized now that the gold comes w/ pin(tang) buckle, and not a folding deployant like the steel 4500v. nevermind...

I’m so confused. It’s a deployant, not a pin buckle, right?

I understand the Stainless steel version comes with a deployment clasp that can be attached to the straps while the Gold version comes with pin buckles for each strap.

The pink gold 4500v specifically has gold pin buckles. I just ordered a second through Vacheron so I won't have to switch the pin buckle between straps.

Is it possible to purchase the pink gold Overseas 4500 at a boutique or does it require a previous purchase history?

My experience with VC is that they don't play games or expect you to have previous purchase history just to be able to buy the watch you like. There may be some limited items that are mostly offered to collectors, but as far as I understand, you can go in and put your name down for the watch you want and they'll let you know when one because available.

I did this for a pink gold overseas with no purchase history, the only thing was there were no overseas at all in the boutique at the time, so I ordered it with a slight risk that it wouldn't sit right on my wrist, but I was confident this would not be the case.

I had to wait around a year and got the call on my birthday - whole experience with my VC boutique completely outclassed any other watch buying / browsing experience I've had.
