Position of the subdials/dial layout bugs me a lot. It is missing the 5712 magic.

This is something a company that buys their movements elsewhere would do.

Not something we should see from an in-house manufacture.

Agee! The old boxes always looked pretentious, designed in the day of antiques and cheap glitz to me. About time they made a different box style for each watch series but I expect it improves their margin to order thousands of the same tired design

Same. The 5712 looks good to me but this one just looks off for some reason.

Dont like the box. Looks like something off AliExpress. Will have to reserve final judgement until after i’ve held it in hand.

The new box is nice but you cannot get away from the 'normal' box. They are a classy finish to an exceptional product

Santos wins imho.

Agree w you about the appeal of the santos.

Haven’t had a chance to follow up w Stern directly but as per Pateks new edict,
the 30m rating stated ~to be used as 100m (120)would be?

I believe the 5811 specs are for 30m as well.

+2

The subdials are placed too far to the right on the dial. This is the worst detail on these new watches IMO. The big date doesn't help the overall looks either no matter how great an achievement it may be from a movement perspective.

Compared to 5980G I don't think 5822P is overpriced which is about the best thing I can say about it.

Platinum Pateks tend to be around 50% more expensive compared to the gold variants of the same watch. In your comparison the P is only around 10% more expensive than the G which makes sense to me as 5822 is less complicated than 5980.

I was waiting for more than 1 year for that « new sportline release ». I feel extremely disapointed.
You want to make something new, nice, cool and relevant. Ask many artists and consumers about something nice and bold.
Did they ask real consumers before planning this ?
Thats lazy and a régression from Nautilus line.
Man at least make new dials, openworked. Do at least SOMETHING to give us Hope in your creativity skills …

Yeah it’s not so much people hating on it or the brand but people being genuinely disappointed that this is the best they could come up with from people I speak to anyway. Cest la vie.. I hope for some traditional pieces next.

I kind of like it. I'll be trying it on tomorrow at my AD and report back on how it wears.

Looking at the two next to each other...if they are able to release a chrono with the pushers integrated into the crown guard area it would be much cleaner look than the nautilus.

Yes. At least i think it is? Maybe jt is brilliant counter-marketing to keep buzz going?

The internet meme folks are impressive and humorous.
