I'm just hoping that a DJ41 in stainless hits retail in a couple of months. I'd prefer that I "get the call" vs going gray but if a new one hits retail in the secondary market, I'd be an instant buyer. I would also love to add a ceramic daytona if they get in the high teens although I am not holding my breath on that one.

Most ADs have some limits! VIPs don't want to buy the references I listed above because there is no point anymore!

Of course they can put them on display as "exhibition only"

I meant they are ordered by the head office to avoid putting anything on display as "for sale"

Black Daytona 2022, full set, brand new, $28.9k
Yup, all good. And I agree. Watches got sucked into the hype culture because they are luxury objects that lend well to visual mediums like IG. And strong brand heritage certainly helped.

That's a great price on a Daytona. Wow!

It's a Facebook group strictly for buying and selling watches, usually at wholesale prices, and most active with dealers. While there is no fee to join, there are criteria for memebership.

All I can say is I take care of my SAs + some common sense!

They are ordered by the head office not to put anything on display! Think about it, we are back to mid 2021 prices and flippers margins are thinner than 2021, yet there is not a single watch for sale! In mid 2021, there used to be at least dozens of watches for sale and on display in every damn AD!

I agree on waiting for AD, with a bit of patience, probably not much longer on DJ41.

I thought people were nuts to *ever* pay a premium on a Datejust, even at the peak of hype. ADs had historically begged people to buy them in the states prior to that.

This makes sense. My AD hasn't been accepting names for purchase lists for 2 years. Now they are.

He doesn’t. He’s guessing, at best, and really just regurgitating what a couple of WoS Group SA’s have told him.

I think you’ve missed the point completely here.

Most independent AD’s don’t have any limits at all apart from the supply chain from Rolex that dictate their own distribution and sales to their customers. Only WoS have hard and fast rules as I’ve posted earlier.

Your point about VIP’s is moot unless you can personally verify what they want or will buy as a fact. Which you can’t, as it’s hearsay from a couple of AD’s…….

As for display pieces, for sale or exhibition, your post makes zero factual sense.

If a new one hits retail price on the grey market, then anyone buying to flip will be losing money, so ADs will then have stock to sell to genuine customers. So no need to go grey and buy a second hand watch

Will be into the 20's within the next month. When it hits around 20 I may jump in.

I could see blacks settling at ~20k and whites ~22.5k when it’s all said and done. Daytonas really aren’t massively produced so I get the demand/slightly over price sticking regardless of hype. Pretty much the sole exception on Rolex lineup aside from stuff like Rainbow, Meteorite etc etc

Except taxes and the time wasted dealing with inflated AD egos.

I agree with this. I have had enough of these little know it alls, regardless of where they work. Look at those people from trotters on YouTube. Those videos are a disgrace.

Even in the heady times of the last couple of years, the watch store was the only place I can remember being treated this way. Maybe some used car dealers but only maybe. I’m over it. If sellers want my hard earned cash, some basic manners and respect are going to be required.

Also, AP and Patek prices are falling more considerably. Nobody is touching ANYthing from them it seems. 15500 is collapsing.

There's a full set white gold PP 5146 Annual Calendar with factory bracelet that's currently bidding at $27k with 30 minutes left.

AP might be taking the biggest hit of them all. No one is touching any Royal Oaks.

Man, white dial 15500 for me soon I guess. I might be done with watches after that and an olive DD40. Famous last words.

Just wait. Absolutely crazy to buy grey right now in my opinion, don’t catch the falling knife. Worst case it stabilizes, not like it’s going to pop back up immediately.

When they're trading near MSRP I don't think it's such a bad thing.
