Wow no one said the Explorer II huh? Where's the love?

I love the look of the Explorer II, ESPECIALLY the older 1655 models with the large orange hand.

My personal favorite dial of all time from Rolex was the cream dial that was featured on the 16550 Explorer II for a short time in the 1980s. You don't see that shade of color dial anymore and it was very beautiful. Kinda ironic how Rolex never intended to produce that color of a dial since they had some faulty issues with the paint but it turned out to be one of the greatest looking dials to me. I also liked it because it wasn't common, its different from the dials seen all the time like black and blue.

To me, the 1655 and the 16550 with the cream dial are two models that are the best looking.

I still drool at the beauty of this watch every time I see pictures of it. I nearly fainted when I actually got to handle one in person before! It was being sold for $9,500 at the time, not bad for this model.

The Explorer II is indeed a beautiful watch, especially the white dial! It and the Yacht-Master are the only two professional watches that haven't gotten the Maxi Dial yet (I don't like the Maxi Dial).

IMO, the Explorer II just needs a Triplock crown!

Well the full size 40 mm Yacht Master is the only version to have the maxi dial, the smaller 35 mm and 29 mm versions don't. That makes the Explorer II, Sea Dweller and current Sub Date as the only models left without the maxi dial.

Hope the Exp II gets a triplock crown too. Maybe in the next couple years...

Isn't the new Sub with the ceramic bezel and maxi dial considered 'current' now? Even the SD has been discontinued, and the SDDS has a maxi dial.

To be honest, I'm kind of surprised that the Daytona is winning! I thought the Sub Date would by far.

I have flipped watches in the past due to the cyclops, I have tried to like it but until now, no such luck. My latest GMT II, I seriously love this watch, it's ridiculous.

I'm torn as I also have that model. I have always thought it looked so nice with the great colors. Below is an image of my current model.

My new one makes me smile and I think it's actually going to take over as my fav.

I say Daytona with GMTII-C at a distant second. I can't believe the 16610 is in second.

+1

You can spot one from across the room, and know for sure what you're looking at.
I give a Pepsi GMT with Jubilee a very close second though!

I guess country miles are different, because from where I sit the Milgauss is not even in the same continent! =)

I voted Sub Date. This was tough for me though. Love the GMTIIc and my SS Plat yacht...

Need/want a Daytona - that could win it - if I could wear one for a bit. It is a very nice looking watch... I have a tough time choosing.
