Great watches. The Black or White both make for a good choice. As others have said, feel out the AD as these should be easier than others to obtain. Failing that, I’d go grey if you want it today; the prices are very reasonable.

Reasonable to expect within a few months as others have mentioned, I would think.

OP: In early 2023, I was on the waitlist for a black or white Exp II, and I had no prior history with the AD. Got the call 2 months later for the black dial.
IMO - If it had taken a year waiting for the EXP II, it would still be better than going grey...and I have grey pieces in my collection. |

Just be aware that this is one that can be had under retail a year or so old

Thought I’d give my input…
Had prior purchase history, asked for the polar, got the call after a month and a half. They did tell me that they really don't see these often though. I guess they don't produce many of these, but the desirability is low as well. Mine is my most worn watch, especially as of lately. |

AD #1- still waiting for the call after 3.5 years. Have previously purchased a number of watches from this AD. Couple of Tudors and a Rolex. Same situation with a BLNR and been waiting 1 year for a ND sub.
AD #2- received after about 2 years wait. 2 prior Rolex purchases. AD#2 actually told me that I was looking at getting the 126610LV or BLNR before the 226570 white dial. Said they were not in great demand, but also not delivered very often. I'm saving the watch NIB for a milestone in a couple of weeks. Had it for about 9 months and the wait is killing me. It is an awesome watch if you like a little larger case. |

Just took a trip to Mexico. Visited an ad and four days later I purchase a Polar dial offered to me.

Ok, so thanks everyone for your advice. The good news is I went in to my AD last Friday to register my interest. They had a polar to try on as it was on exhibition. And got the call to come and pick it up today. I’m now the very proud owner of the Explorer 2 Polar. The bad news is I can’t upload a photo for you guys to see it on my wrist as the file size is too big. But I’ll get around to it.
Today I saw they had replaced my white EX2 with a black one. It truly is a beautiful watch and I’ve set the true GMT hand to Italy time. It pops and will complement my Wimbledon DJ41 perfectly. One for all day everyday, the other for nights out. |

I’ve owned both black and polar. Black is definitely the keeper. Both were relatively easy gets from the AD, around three months each, even during Covid.

I’d ask your AD. They aren’t that hard to come by.

Here she is on the way to work this morning. While not usually worn with a suit, I think my line of work in education allows some flexibility on formality of watches, and I think it really helps to tone down my outfit.

Oddly enough, I’ve found it very difficult to acquire a polar dial. I’ve been after one for about three years. I’ve received a panda Daytona and a blue Sky on jubilee and I’m still waiting on the Explorer. I hope to get one this year.

I think perhaps you've used up all your AD special treatment if you've received these two sought after watches. A friend of mine has been waiting 3 years for a SD on jubilee and he just can't seem to find an AD willing to go into the safe and retrieve it for him. He may eventually just settle on a TT one just to get his hands on it.

I received my Explorer II black dial 1.25 years ago after waiting 1.5 years.

Have both 216 in white and recently added 226 in black after twelve years of loving the white. I agree, they are better looking than the GMT and such a sleeper in the market. Well done on the acquisition. Wear it in good health.

It really looks good with that outfit. I work in a similar line of business to you, I believe, and find it wears very well with less-formal jackets. I do not wear it with my most formal darker suits, but happy to with jacket-chinos combos, etc. |

One of my favorites, wearing the Polar now.
Shouldn’t be that hard to acquire. |
