The collector side of my brain wants all the bits and pieces.

The realistic side of me could care a less and I have bought a few without any providence and I feel complete.

The pervert side of me.....well, I am wired to like boxes.

I've purchased a box and catalog after buying my Tudor chrono just to add to the package even though I'll never sell. Maybe I watch The Antique Roadshow too much.

Speaking of watch box, I recently acquired an Omega Big Date. The box is a beautifully crafted, hard wood! Put it next to the Rolex box, the Rolex box looks like it came with a Casio.

Casio? Take a look back when Rolex made outer box from sea-weed pic.

I have been trying to "complete" my vintage Sub set. Wow, very expensive and difficult. It's a bit of a let down when you get the little plastic piece that you just paid over $600.00 for....

I keep the boxes in storage but I only keep them incase I want to resell my watches someday. I don't use the boxes or look at them much. They just take up space in storage.

You be right on, eagle eye Oscar . One is a box for an Omega Speedmaster, which I sold but still have the box & books. Ebay time for the Omega box. Adding another box soon . Use your 3rd eye and tell me which one will be added next... Hint, its a Rolex that isn't yet in my sig line.

The Internet and specifically sales of watche on the Internet have led to the obsession with boxes. It's one more indicia of authenticity. People figure if the guy selling the watch has the box and papers, it must be real. Unfortunately the true scammers know this and know that they can obtain used or conterfeit boxes to sell with their fakes goods.

If you buy a watch from an AD, you know its real, you can leave the box -- of course you wouldn't nowadays.

Anyway, I've bought used watches without box and papers and with. Box and papers are just one more factor to be considered in an overall set of factors and information that I use to determine whether the person with whom I'm dealing is trustworthy.

Rolex boxes are awful. I wish Rolex put as much effort into their packaging as they did their watches. Panerai or AP have great boxes.

I think today's customer want to get their money's worth & if anchor's are no longer available, then give us our box!

It means a WIS owned the watch and likely took very good care of it. Same for camera gear.

If you would buy a pre-loved Rolex, who would you buy it from?
1- A WIS who has the complete packet, papers, service records and box.
2- A dude that takes it of his wrist.

Which one do you think is in better condition?
