There’s definitely an argument for it.

This makes sense. That said, I still prefer the 114060, and other Submariner references over the date versions. At the end of the day though, they're all great watches.

it scary when you put it that way. Someone rocking a DD needs to be reminded its Tuesday. They are probably your surgeon or lawyer or your financial advisor considering how much they cost. Ive put my life in the hands of someone who cant remember what day it is.

I love my 114060. It was my first Rolex. It hasn't been getting much wrist time ever since my 116622 became my daily wearer.

I've contemplated selling my 114060 a few times in my two years of ownership. I don't think I ever can though. I've got great memories with that watch, and I would have insta-regret the moment I parted with it.

If it's not perfect it's pretty close to it!

Haha, I was thinking the same thing! I probably write 10 checks in a year. Definitely not an issue for me and why I guess my ND is perfect for me :)

I write about 10 each week but don't need a date watch to know the date.

Minus maybe a datograph i cant think of a chronograph where a date window enhances the design. 2 subdial watches with a date at 6 is passable, but 3 subdial with a date at 4:30, no
I think this looks pretty good.

I couldn't agree more. All of my watches have a date. It's a requirement for me.

I've been reading the post here about the no date Submariner, as I am considering purchasing one. Most commonly, owners really regret selling/trading them.

The 114060 is my favorite modern reference. it’s the modern version of the quintessential Submariner.

It’s funny to me how many times the ND vs date debate happens here. I think we can all agree that both are great watches! Really comes down to personal preference like many things in life and we all have our individual preferences. For me, I found the cyclops on the 6 digit models to be a bit much. I think it has to do with the size of the watch and the ceramic bezel. I say this because I do very much like the 5 digit date subs, I don’t seem to notice the cyclops as much and I think it adds a little something to the watch.

Would I like a date on my watch, sure why not... but I wasn’t buying a calendar as much as I was buying a watch that visually appealed to my tastes. And for me, as I’ve said before, the date is easily found all around me in my daily life so not having it on my wrist hasn’t been an issue. As many like to point out, the time is also around, which brings me back to my original point that I chose what personally appealed to my visual tastes.

The time can also be find all around, but you've already admitted that the looks are more important to you than the function, and that's really the crux of it. Heck, I have a hard time wearing a watch with a day complication these days, let alone the date.

I'm a retiree, so generally speaking don't care about the date. Or write checks. And I love the perfect symmetry of THE sub.

I agree with you on everything about the black SubC. Really versatile and love the deep black on the bezel and dial. Only thing I disagree is that I need the date, but the black sub is Rolex’s most versatile daily you can buy today. Hope you get many more years of enjoyment out of your watch!

That's great to hear.

I've been having this sneaking feeling lately that if I would just wear my watches more, I would bond with them and not want to flip them away, but...that's crazy talk, right?

I have long adapted to no date on most of my watches, so much so that I don't trust it's right on the ones that do have it. If they were last worn before the end of a short month I probably didn't adjust it.

As I've heard somewhere...if you don't know what day it is, why do you care what time it is?

The date today is one more than yesterday. If I'm not sure for some reason, and I can't remember the last time I wasn't, I use the phone...or a calendar.

Sub seems like a nice versatile dive watch but perfect seems a bit much.
