I wonder why buyers don't post pics and ask questions about watches before they buy them?

This was a major mistake, one that I would never repeat for sure. Well...ready to show you the result and calm all disbelievers down.

The ending says otherwise or am I reading this wrong?

Here it is, serviced, as I indicated full service, new dial, bezel and hands. According to the AD good for swimming too, but I don't think this will ever happen. More knowledgeable members have warned me that this service might have decreased the value of the watch but considering the elements prior to the service, I think this was an upgrade. At least, I can enjoy it without doubts any more. Will post more pictures!

great result! glad to see it end well.

Dont think anyone said a service was going to decrease the value. You had a repainted / aftermarket dial to begin with so pretty much anything you did would have been value accretive.

Looks nice with the service dial and now you can also see it at night!

Thank you! It is true that a lot of concerns and bad thoughts went away. The ad told me that a check of the serial number did not yield any wrong doing. Rolex has received all details of the service and the parts that were replaced. Got a 2 year warranty and next service will be in 5 years.

Congratulations it does look really good...... Can I just check that the watch has been serviced at a RSC, I think it has as you refer to an AD. I ask as if so, this service dial is different to the previous three with the 600 and 200 "stretched" to line up with Submariner so we may have a "Type D" service dial....

Thank you for all this information. I checked the service dials and noticed the differences. The watch was service to an ad but the dial was ordered from a RSC. they made the call in my presence. It was the hardest part to find. The ad had to wait for two months to receive it. So perhaps it is a new variation? I have no idea

Congrats on the tune up!

The new dial/hands looks great, kind of a modern/vintage

It will look so cool on your wrist with the maxi white lume plots.

Totally agree! The 1680 “line” is the best sport Rolex that they ever made! For sure!

Looks great.
And like you mentioned, has now put your mind at ease.
I am also currently looking for a good 1680.
So, slightly envious of yours :-)

Thank you all for your kind words!
Here is a wrist pic somewhere by the Mediterranean sea.
I will upload one with a clearer view of the writings.
Type "D" it is from what I understand.

Can’t beat 1680 as a summer sport watch!

I am afraid I did. Did I have the choice to keep them? He offered to let me keep the changed parts, so maybe I can try to recuperate something.

I haven’t looked closely at the bezel insert but I wouldn’t count on it being period correct or even genuine after looking the aftermarket dial it came on originally. Suspect no real loss if you don’t get it back.

Yes, the insert is worth keeping or selling. If you can still get it, go for it.

At first glance it is both legit and period correct ! (Mk6 according to Xeramic new classification)

thanks for checking. I have checked now too - you are right. MK6 it is. Though the inner circumference of the bezel appears slightly shaved.

Yes - worth getting back if the OP can.

Hello,

Hm no, this is not even similar to a MK6 - very different font, hashes thinner than the font lines - but a service type.

Regarding my inserts guide, I strongly recommend not to jump just to the MK overview but to read the whole thing with all the explanations to understand how much accordance is necessary for a proper match.

Greetings,
Xeramic

Hi Xeramic,
The label was for the insert in the first pic in the thread, not the latest ones, the insert got replaced in the service.
