Anyone know any dimensions for early 40s Rolex Oyster? The model is 2286 but I just received it and it's really small. Like a boys watch.

I'd actually like to know anything about it. If anyone has any reference I'd appreciate it.

Oyster Channelswimmer
I have a Oyster, signed Oyster and Unicorn on the dial.
The case is basemetal and chrome. It has a callibre 885 movement, Gruen I think. And it is signed inside the back, and has serial number 01181 inside too. From my information this is made in 1926. Is this correct ? |

Does anyone have information on the serialnumbers on those early Rolex ?
From what I have found out about the serialnumber, my Oyster must be one of the very early ones, produced in the first 2 weeks of the Oyster case productionline, being number 01181. |

What are the FC markings at the back of my Oyster Watch Co. Watch case, on the arms that hold the pins. What do they mean?

My Own Canadian Rolex Oyster 1938
Indeed it was stamped Rolex inside at the plate fronting the back of the dial. I'm using it until now and it works considering it's hand wound and 83 years old!

I was told by a retired ex Rolex Tech that OWC was working in tandem with RWC on the waterproof case. OWC had the case design but RWC had the screw down crown. There was some trouble between the 2 and RWC took the combo Design and beat Oyster to the patent which of course brought about the demise of Oyster. then Rolex bought them out forming a sub of RWC and marketed the Oyster Case. I was told this by a man who was supposed to be a ex Rolex tech when he looked at my Oyster Raleigh. Which inside the back is stamped Oyster Watch Co and RWC LTD.
I think his story goes agaisnt what is on the web but it makes sense that the Oyster case came from Oyster Watch Co originally which was absorbed later by Rolex name and all. However I can't prove this and he died long ago. Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk |
